hey guys- After reading all the info I need help- I live in north NJ (not exactly a tractor hot spot)- I have 2 acres of land which roughly 1 is a horse pasture- I have gone through various garden tractors and now have a Massy 2925 hydro ( Simplicity Legacy)- My problem is that the tractor is always stuck in the pasture because the area is very mucky and the tires spin( have weights,ag tires)- Need to move up to a CUT-

Needs: Go through the pasture and be able to level it-
Clear out small brook behind property that closes up
over the summer- plow 500' driveway-straight down
move bales of hay and buckets of chips-I was thinking of the bx23 or going up to the TC33 or BX2910-I do not want to go to small or to big- Iwas even thinking of a used l3830-sorry for the rambling but I need help- thanks for your thoughts- gary

Where are you going to park this tractor? One requirement that I had was for the fixed ROPS to fit underneath the doors on my carriage house. Both the JD 2210 and 4010 ones would, with turf tires: 2210 was 78"; 4010 was 77" to top of the ROPS.

The 4010 would be as robust as the B2910 and a little less tall in the saddle. The 2210 is more low to the ground. It might not be as good for a tilting blade that you'd need to clean out that stream/brook. The 4010 with FEL will take care of the snow. Could carry the bales and chips in the FEL, too. A KK carryall on the back might be nice to add more carrying capacity.

I never had enough property during the 20 years we lived in Morris Township to have a tractor. Moved tons of rock with a garden cart. Still have that garden cart, too; it's going over 30 years old now.

hey- I have a large "cover all' in the back of my property that is made to store a car- so storage is not a problem- Just want to get the right size-There does not seem to be that big a price difference between a bx and a tc33 or 2910( couple of thousand - spread out over the years no big difference) Are you better off getting the largest size you can afford or is it totalloy overkill???

This is up to the individual. I'm of the opinion that you get the largest you can afford because you knows where you going to be? Better to be too big than not big enough and a larger tractor completes the job quicker with not much more fuel usage.

I'd spring for the TC33 providing you have a decent dealer.

If you have the money don't make the mistake I did by buying too small and then going back to trade in. If your moving bales of hay and I'm thinking the big round ones the BX won't touch them.

I would try to first think long term and decide (make a list) what heavy work I needed the tractor to do. A large tractor is great, but becomes less and less great as the heavy work is completed if there are not more heavy jobs to replace those completed.

I've worked my B2910 Kubota real hard over the last couple years, but I see it doing relatively less in the future and my BX2200 do proportionally more.

I've said it before here, but I am pretty sure that if i had to have only one tractor on my 3.7 acres, I would probably settle on something the size of a B7510 Kubota. Color doesn't matter.

In the end though it is what YOU feel YOU need. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wouldn't get the largest you can afford for only two acres but I wouldn't get a Sub-compact either. From the sound of your needs. You need something along the lines of a Kioti CK20, JD 4115, Kubota 2910 or 7800, Case TC24, Mahindra 2015.

If you are really wanting to lift large round bales I would even go larger than those models and nothing less than a 2000 lb. tractor with enough 3pt. lift to heft one of those puppies. I don't know what they weigh.
