Trescrows, I’m disappointed. I thought for sure that remark about the BX being a “woman’s tractor” would stir you up. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Oh well, maybe next time. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif I think you are right though…the 2710 may be the next logical step to get more room.

stephen m., yes I noticed those extra notches on the seat rail when examining the tractor. I thought it would help to take advantage of the inch or so extra room.

Also, I think that the seat is designed to “raise” the operator as it goes back with the logic that any operator needing extra leg room would benefit from extra “arm room” to reach the steering wheel. Raising the operator should help position the steering wheel better. In theory anyway.

You’re right…we are still growing. Have you seen any 16-18 year old girls (excuse me…women) lately? They are taller than me. Boys are even bigger. At one time, it was unusual to find an NFL lineman over 300 lbs. Today, its unusual to find one not over 300 lbs.

The average size of a civil war soldier (1860’s) was something like 5’8” and 140 lbs. I don’t know anyone that size today. Better diet I guess.

Well, you should not rule out a 7500, 2410 or 4110 (JD). There is a bit more room, actually it is a slightly different seating position. The wheel comes up a bit higher and the seat does not raise as much when you slide it back. You may not have to go up to a 2710/2910 but of course the only way to see is to go sit on them. I am pretty sure you could become fond of the BX and surely you could fit on a 7500 with at least some comfort. Ya know, the guy who owns the empty lot next to me has a huge Kubota, the seating arrangement is not terribly different from the 2410. I think I use it with the the seat at the third from last position. I forget what model it is off hand--it is big--real big. It could roll over a 2910 and hardly feel a bump. You could put five or six Sears GT's in the loader /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif . Compared to it everything I have seen pictured on this site is a girlyman tractor--well most everything except for the Earthforce guy!!!Perhaps what the problem is that you guys confuse tractors with luxury cars--it ain't a Lexus or a Lincoln for that matter.
It kinda looks like this--girlymen.

Lordy:

And here I am at 5ft 5inches and 150 lbs always trying to reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel.

My best friend is about 280#, 6ft 2in. with a 58in.chest size. Doesn't fit in my car.

Always two sides!!

I could buy that it was intentionally designed that way except for the fact that the BX is the only one that does it that way. I think it was more what they had to do to get the fuel tank to fit under the seat and have it be the size they wanted. If that's comfortable for you you've got it made....it just wasn't for me.

Egon,

Have you tried putting some tractor manuals on the seat? I guess that wouldn't help reach the pedals, though:) Some of us big guys are built a little funny. At 6'0", I only have a 30" inseam (at most). But I need a size 50 suit jacket to stuff my shoulders in. So not only are my insurance premiums higher, I have to pay more for more clothes!

As for people getting taller/bigger with each generation, I used to think the opposite. It seemed that when I was in high school, the incoming freshmen looked awful small (was always afraid of breaking one of them at football practice). But since then, it does seem to be true. I guess the fact that I stopped growing (at least up) when I was 13 might have something to do with my skewed perceptions.

No, I think it was designed that way for exactly that reason. I am looking at the seat/tank location right now and I cannot see that the rear fuel tank dictates this arrangement. Since the BX is argueably the most modern Kubota and the only one intentionally designed for small acerage homeowner/consumer use it is meant to accept a large size range from my petite little wife to some of you ***arses (just kidding). My wife has a time with the 2410--she does not like it at all--drats!
What makes the BX more modern--clutchless PTO and hydro, rear facing engine and aft radiator with reverse flow, rear fuel tank (as in it can be fuel from a 5 gallon can without having to get a ladder out and spill it all over Hades), and some other odds and ends. I would expect to see some off this on the new Kubotas--oh--like the BX2400, B2520 and B2920 and the LX 3020 etc, see them, if not now, in the future /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif .

Actually, I kinda have to sit on the front of the seat and use my left leg on the dash to brace myself when I'm on my b7100. And yes, the dash paint is worn down to bare metal where my knee hits.

Just can't explain aLL THE PROBLEMS little people have. Like furniture that don't fit etc.

Now everything you have seen on this board isn't a girlyman's tractor/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Are there any big guys out there with BX’s? Is this tractor comfortable for 2+ hours of continuous use for a big guy?

I'm 6 foot 3 plus, and 255 pounds -- and I don't seem to be having problems with the sitting/extended operating. My biggest problem is getting untangled from the steering wheel when I want to get off and back on quickly. Always seem to try dragging my knee through it./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
