That is one great looking tractor and a great paint job. :eek:oks like Candy Apple Red and Flawless....Nicely Done.

Thanks John,
I started putting gear lube in the bull gear pans, the transmission and the belt pulley attachment last night. Looked at the back of the tractor and I was leaking gear lube out of the belt pulley attachment :(
I pulled the bearing retainer/ seal off and layed it on my surface plate at work. The darned thing was warped  so I put it in the lathe and resurfaced the inside face. Looks good as new now :)

Scotty, I wish I had your drive, or patience or whatever it is that make you do something so right. I get an old tractor, do whatever it takes to make it start and run and work right then do the "pretty stuff". When I'm getting close to finishing I get in a bigger hurry, and don't make it perfect, just OK.
I bought an old B Allis last week and have it running great, now putting a 3PH on it. I'm no engineer, so it takes a lot of moving and clamping to get the angles and throw ratios right to make a 3PH function properly. When I get that done, I'll use it a while to make sure all the bugs are worked out the will paint it and put decals on. By then I'm getting pretty tired of it and don't take the time to do it right. From the looks of it you do it all and make it all right, something I appreciate seeing more than doing. All of us enjoy looking and all of us think we want to do one ourselves, but I for one know exactly how much work you have put into that Super A, and it looks super now. Later, Nat

Mornin Nat and Trahere,
Thanks for the kind words :) An Allis B is got to be one of my favorites, unfortunately I dont own one

I think its the toolmaker in me that gives me that fussy streak  :) Yes it was an awful lot of work but Im very close to owning a 57 year old tractor the way it came out of the showroom. Its kind of like steping back in time, something I have always wanted to do ! I guess this is as close as I will get to doing that.

The first grand child that shows any real interest in old tractors and or farming will get this tractor someday :) Of course we dont want that to happen too soon :)

Mornin Guys,
Well I broke down and bought a new battery and new cables yesterday along with two packages of zerk fittings  I hate spendin money:) I did some side machine work for a guy and made $90 and the total bill was $89.64 for tractor parts :) Not even enough left over for a coffee:mad: I think I got the tractor wired properly last night, although I dont have any headlights yet or the rear light for that matter, and I dont have the money for them right now so they will have to wait

I did some body work on the hood, it was bent up pretty good but its not too bad right now and Im not spendin $125 for a repo ! Here are two shots, one of the hood primed with most of the dents fixed and I shot the hood with paint this mornin !

Mornin Guys,
Whats a hood without decals ? :)

Last night I put the glass fuel strainer/shutoff on the fuel tank. All OK, and then I put a little fuel in the tank to check for leaks. The first minute was OK :) Then we developed a small leak on the butterfly shutoff valve  Tightened up the packing and that took care of that :) Opened the valve to allow fuel to the carb, fingers crossed, no more leaks please  , nothing right away and then it started to weep slightly. I will hopefully solve that one tonight :)

Unfortunately the wife has me doing other chores around the house, so until I can get some mechanics time in the garage, the tractor gets to collect dust:(

Any Day now..... Any Day !

Mornin Gizmo,
Thanks for the cpmpliment! Well I am not any kind of expert by any means but this HVLP gun does work quite well with pretty good results !

Well, the old girl is up and runnin :) Not without some frustration  No sooner than I get the tractor running and the hydraulics are acting strange, jerky operation or no operation at all  I rebuilt the Touch Control unit along with the hydraulic pump on the tractor and all I can think is that I have to rip this whole unit apart again :( For the heck of it, I opened the upper petcock on the oil pan and all my hydraulic fluid comes pouring out :( Im havin a bad day !!! So the problem gets narrowed down to the hyd pump. So sunday morning I take the pump off and dissassemble and low and behold I forgot to put the main seal o-ring on the driven shaft  Thats where all my hydraulic fluid went via the timing cover directly to the oil pan ! I put it all back together the proper way and everything works great :)

So here is a pic of my new 57 year old tractor on the front lawn at the Ct house. It still needs a few things done to it yet, like the right rear weight and the control rod that goes from the touch control to the rear rockshaft. Oh yes, Im not happy with the hood because of some crinkles and bends so when I get some extra dough I will be getting a new one :)

Thanks Rob,
I still have a few more things to do to it. The rear wheel weights need to be sand blasted and painted and mounted. The control rod from the hydraulic touch control that goes to the rear rockshaft used for raising and lowering implements needs to be painted and installed. But all and all its pretty well finished :) It was a lot of fun other than a few bad moments  :)

Im glad I could share with all my TBN friends. Thanks for following this thread !
