These people have a screw loose.

Have you ever seen any of these "Reality" TV show people that didn't have a screw loose?
"Reality" TV shows are, IMHO, one of the most...if not the most, ridiculous thngs I've ever seen.

Agree completely "reality" has very little in common with reality. I do like a couple of them though like Ax Men and Swamp People though I accept very little of it is real.

When I was in military service we got nuclear war training. It was short and the test had only one question. "What should you do when you see nuclear explosion?"
Answer: "Take a really good look at it because you will not see it again."

I enjoy the show and I acknowledged that it is more about phobias and compulsions then it is about plausible threats to our life as we know it.

I find it particularly interesting when the preppers have turned a small yard into a jungle farm. Some have taken swimming pools and turned them into hydroponic garden/fish farms.

It really makes you wonder how much food you could get out of your property if you wanted too, regardless of what the future holds.:licking:

Spot on , these shows are "Bread and Circuses" for the masses, (see the end of the Roman Empire) ! I don't have anywhere to bug out to so here I stay , but I am prepared !

It's not the end of the world that concerns me it's the FSA coming a knocking at my door for free food and stuff when the city shelves become empty. 15+ trillion in debt and climbing, sadly we seem to be Greece on steroids :(

Google Cloward & Pivens. looks like it's the plan :(

There are free plans out there for barrel ponic systems that let you grow fish and food.
When "prepping" if you call it that, I call a lot of what I do permiculture, and I try to prep in plain sight.
For example, hauling stone for walls, and working on planting beds. Much easier to do now on a full stomach and with pain killers inside if i tweek something. Hauling stone is not something I would want to do if I was worried about roving bands of people. But now that I have the stone walls in plain sight and close to the house I have some nice walls, and a close source of building materials. Its all in how you want to look at the world.
A lot of the doomsday people are saying when it happens, some of the more adjusted say IF:)

The Argentina Collapse

Just had to comment that this is absolutely the best, most level-headed, complete and realistic survival discussion I've ever seen. I totally believe that the experience and advice of this Argentinean is worth taking to heart. It is superbly written in excellent English, explains each point logically without belaboring the points.

charlz, thanks for posting the link. It is magnificent authorship.

Anyone concerned about survival, doomsday, or self defense ignores the recommendations at their peril.

Ever think the show and people were selected to discredit the movement? Get some people that are way out on the fringe , show their homes and let them talk.
Might be an agenda, JMHO

Sadly, we only have 40 TV channels, and this isn't on one of them

Anyway, reading up on a US economic web site about the latest news from Greece (sadly the European press is still in denial) I came across an interesting item on the US black market.

Guest Post: Americans Will Need ?Black Markets? To Survive | ZeroHedge

This is only looking at life during / after a financial breakdown (a bit like the Ferfal Argentinian link) and not full nuclear war.

The gist seems to be bartering - i.e. working with your neighbours, and away from FDA / IRS etc - will become commonplace.

Talking of FDA - are they really as bad as the article says? They seem even more **** than our DEFRA.

Anyone ever watch TV series they had on a few years ago called Jericho??? I hadn't been paying much attention back then, but it seems as though they wrote the show off of articles like these.....does kinda make ya think......

My wife and I watched Jericho up until it was cancelled....We have often wondered if they were not pressured to cancel the show. Could it be the government became concerned it would give people ideas....? I'm just sayin'

I prepped by buying a home in the country within the first blast radius of dc. I don't have to worry about supplies and the such.... just kiss my wife and watch the light show

Speaking of Y2K, we had a nice garden in 1999. I was giving lots of veggies to my neighbor. One day he jokingly said "Shouldn't you be saving these up for Y2K?" to which I replied "All I have to do is keep you fat."
thats so funny:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I liked the first season of Jericho, the second was rushed to "end" the season. I loved that the fans of the show sent in tons of peanuts to protest the cancellation.

Poor ratings...that's all.

Most likely, and even based on some the comments on this thread, the ones are the 'fringe' are most likely to talk. Some of the people shown have been adamant about raising awareness/training others so naturally they are going to want to be on the show.
