Any one use a ventless gas stove for heating.???

Finally traced the beep down. Wife had left cell phone on in purse and battery was about gone dead. Bought a new Co 2 alarm today , will plug it in hall way. I think my smoke alarm is co 2 also but not sure. Really don't plan on leaving kitchen burner on any more, during while we are asleep.

Man, there are just too many things that go beep in a house nowadays. Yes I would not hesitate to use a stove top burner for a little heat If I needed to, while I was awake and watching, but I sure would not go to bed and leave it running. I am glad you got things squared away..:thumbsup:

I feel your pain... after years of drought it seems like all heck broke loose with the rain... chasing roof leaks, flooded basement and a collapsed sewer line best I can figure...

Started with a call at 5:40 am and just getting in at 11:42 pm

At least it is not cold... only wet.

FYI...a quick method to clean a burning pilot, is to tap the pilot gas tubing or pilot mounting bracket near the pilot assembly with a screwdriver. It will often clean up a poor quality flame.

Periodically, with the pilot off, I spray some compressed air from an air can into and around the pilot on my gas ventless cast iron stove.

So, this ventless NG heater in my garage, that won't stay running sometimes for more than 30 minutes, may simply have a dirty pilot light? How does it measure the available O2? or lack of?

I do know the pilot stays burning even after the full burner comes on.

Apparently as near as I can determine, it is not so much a matter of "measure" or "sense" as it is just the way that the burner/air shutter is designed so that when the O2 levels drop to around 18 percent the flame burns further and further away from the pilot orifice. This causes the flame to miss hitting the thermocouple and it does not keep it hot enough to generate the millivolt voltage level that keeps the magnetic safety valve open. So it snaps shut, the pilot goes completely out and the main gas valve will not open either, and the system is then shut down. If I am wrong, one of you heating appliance professionals (of which I am NOT) please correct me.

I have to do that every couple years with mine or it will quit working
