Any problems ordering from Amazon?

/ Any problems ordering from Amazon? #21
I'm waiting on my TurboTax software now, est Tuesday delivery so till then... I have bought 4 or 5 times and once was a 4th try to get the correct part that was not broken (turbo/torpedo style heater ignitor element) it kept showing up broken. That was thru Amazon but 3rd party sales person, he was nice enough but took about 4 weeks with me taking photos of each problem and offering to send them back. Last pic sent to him I had 3 of them lined up all broken setting with the old used broken one. Carbon ceramic flat things & shipping kept smashing them or dropping box etc...

Had 3 or 4 other things all shipped and got them as ordered.

Amazon Prime has been working out great for me, I really think if you buy much online it's worth it in free 2 day shipping alone. I enjoy the Prime movies, shows etc as well.

I use Amazon all the time and for years now, never had a problem. I don't have prime but usually if you "bundle" your purchases to over $35. You get free shipping anyway. Plus I have an Amazon Credit Card and I think I get 3 pts for every dollar I spend there, and you can apply the points off of your next purchase.

I have ordered from Amazon a few times without any problems.

I ordered some movies about a week ago & they were shipped in two different packages.

The first package came in direct from Amazon. One DVD in the package just an empty box.

Called Amazon and they gave me a refund. Would not replace the missing disc, even though it shipped from them, because they were selling it on consignment for someone else.

Got the 2nd package and it was wrapped in wallpaper. Went to watch the movie last night & it wouldn't play. I tried it in 2 different DVD players.

Called Amazon & they said it was a 3rd party purchase & they will send an email on my behalf.

So this morning I get a reply from the seller stating the disc will only work in an Xbox.
I replied back that now where in the description did it say it will only work in an Xbox and now I waiting to hear from them.

So far I'm not real impressed with 3rd party deals on Amazon.

I spend about $1200 a month with Amazon on all kinds of different stuff and have been a prime member since the program began. I've had two third party vendor problems that were quickly resolved. My biggest problem with Amazon is how they bill my credit card isn't always how they claim they charged it on my invoices. This is super annoying.

I don't have prime, so I generally do that. Somewhat annoying to wait if you order on a weekend though as the free shipping is 5-7 business days (I have an order from the 24th that will be delivered on Monday).
If you have access to a .edu email address, you can get Amazon Prime Student for $50/year.

Amazon is excellent overall but they have their ups and downs. My wife tried Amazon subscribe and save, where you can order regular household supplies on a regular delivery schedule. Mostly cleaning supplies, pet food, etc. I'm not sure if that service is managed by a different group or what but our subscribe and save items more often than not arrived in damaged packaging, in some cases, the item itself damaged,or in ridiculous packaging (like a six pack of paper towel rolls in a refrigerator sized box). The overall impression was that the warehouse guys were just grabbing stuff and throwing it into the first box they saw, without much care.

I try to avoid dealing with 3rd party deals and I'm willing to pay more to buy directly from Amazon. Any problems that have occurred with 3rd parties have quickly been resolved since they don't want to risk getting bad reviews that could result in being booted by Amazon.

I'm a very satisfied Amazon Prime user - never had a bad experience yet... knock on wood.

We use both Amazon and eBay and over past 3 years have had only 3 returns which were resolved quickly and no return shipping costs.

We have had Amazon Prime since its inception and consider it a real value. Like both very well.

I buy from amazon a lot, I like the whole process and I haven't had any big problems. But i don't buy movies from them, movies I get from netflix and those are mostly free and down loaded rather than DVD.

I suspect that the amount your are out is not significant, but you should get your moneys worth regardless. I think you will be compensated and Amazon is still better then the alternative, don't you agree?

Do you use Turbo Tax Deluxe? Did you read the problems with the 2014 version? If not, don't open the package until you do. I've switched to H&R Block after 12 years of Turbo Tax.

Intuit is now providing $25 back to Deluxe users that bought the eviscerated 2014 version IF they bought Deluxe last year. That's enough to get users into Premier, which is full featured. That's what I read, anyways. I've been using Premier for 3 years now after using Deluxe for 5 or 6 years previous.

I've been using TurboTax Deluxe for a lot of years, and used it to file my income tax return 2 days ago. This is the first I've heard of any problem with it. What's the problem supposed to be?

It's not a 'problem', they removed some of the tax forms (like Sched. D) support from Deluxe and they are now in Premier. If you don't need Sched. D, you likely have no worries.

Yeah, I just now found the story on the Internet; no problem for me, although in the past I've used some of those forms, so I would have been upset with them, too.

H&R Block may have good software now, but I've never used it, or even considered it because of a problem with H&R Block in 1969. Yep, a long time ago, before electronic filing and such, and they did refund my money.

We're also a Amazon customer. Prime quickly paid for itself in shipping cost savings. Amazon FireTV quickly paid for itself in movies. They keep a ton of good movies on there for free, and are continually adding. In fact, Amazon is working with HBO to show new movies within 6 weeks of release date. Hard to beat that.

And the two day delivery with Prime? Saves a lot of trips driving around town looking for items - saves on gas, wear and tear on the car and my nerves, and is usually received from Amazon before I could find it locally - meaning within 25 miles.

Amazon's customer service beats all others hands-down. Their policy of "the customer is always right" is practiced religiously. If you don't like something you bought, you can return it within 30 days - regardless.

My spouse is also an independent Seller on Amazon. You can bet your bottom dollar - she goes all out to be sure orders are properly filled, packed ultra carefully, and shipped... usually the same day as the order was received. And if there's a complaint (which there RARELY is), she refunds the price no questions asked. In the end, that policy pays off with satisfied returning customers.

Yeah, sure - there are the small percentage of buyers that abuse the Amazon return policy. They'll open packages, copy things like patterns, and send the purchased one back for credit for any flimsy questionable reason. They'll have to live with their own conscious. Those are 1-percenters. Life's too short to worry about those low-life's. Diligence always pays back with honesty. ...Usually.

Amazon has bots that are constantly running to update Amazon's prices to be the best around. Third party sellers don't. Buying either Amazon Fulfilled or third-party sold by Amazon is a better way to buy than eBay or Craigslist. At least, you won't get scammed.

I use amazon quite a lot. We live in a smallish town and the nearest box store is not handy. Also you can buy a lot of things from there that you just can't buy anywhere else.

Most of the time I filter to show only the items sold by amazon. The next best thing is to read the reviews to gleam those nuggets of knowledge that always aren't in the description. I have also had pretty good luck returning items even through 3rd party sellers.

Here is an example. I ordered a new battery for my phone from a 3rd party seller. Came as described and works great inside, but it dies real fast when its someplace cold (like when outside at 20F). That doesn't work for me as I am frequently outside for work when its cold out. Contacted the seller and they sent me a refund right away. No hassles, no problems.
I have had similar issues on ebay and would have had to fight to get a refund there.

If I'm not mistaken, schedules C and E are not in Deluxe either (I don't need C, but do need the other two). I've heard about the $25 rebate also, but it seems pretty shady to "slick" you into paying the extra $30, and then after numerous complaints, create a rebate for $25.
H&R Block is cheaper than Deluxe to begin with (I think I paid $32). While I haven't yet completed my taxes I was impressed with how easily it imported my previous year's info from Turbo Tax.

At any rate, I order a few things every month or so from Amazon, and so far haven't had any problems.
