My guess is yes. It seems to me he has his facts wrong. Yes, a dually can get you in that catagory just due to the new super high GVWR's they are coming out with but to say all Duallies is not going to cut it.
Belive what you want but till I see some writing I will stay put.:thumbsup:
Now I could see where some insurance companies only cover duallies under commercial policies but that is a different subject.

My 2004 Isuzu NPR/EFI stakebed is a dually weighing 7100 lb (no load, me, some tools and 3/4 tank of gas) with GVWR of only 12,000 lb, which is equivalent in curb weight and GVWR to some of those really big late model 1T dually PUs. My insurance broker beat the bushes for coverage under a car/PU policy. No luck so I'm covered under a commercial policy even though the truck is registered as non-commercial use. Not surprising that those 1T dually PUs that are muscled up on steroids are facing the same problem.
