hi, i have narrowed my search for a tractor down to a mahindra 3525 or a farmtrac 535. both are equiped with frontend loaders. quality of dealers is not an issue but i am concerned about long term parts availability. the machine we purchase will only be used about 3 hours per week so it wont be wore out in 20 years. any helpfull info would be appreciated, as both machines are priced around 13,900. and both will do what dad and i need done. thru a search of the site it seams mahindra owners are happier than farmtrac owners but i like the idea of the farmtrac being built around the old fords. thanks in advance

The Mahindra's are built around old IH's design, so a good machine also. I think your decision is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. As for parts, who knows what the future will bring. I have an small old AC, and there aren't many parts for them. If you get 20 years for 14G's, it probably earned its keep. My .02

Mahindra is a larger company and has a dominate position in the utility tractor segment. Both tractors will work fine but Mahindra seems to run a tighter ship than Farmtrac.

I like the fact that both are built around the older IH and Ford models, respectively. Some coworkers of mine own or have owned both Mahindras and Farm/LongTracs and love them. I think it boils down to this:

What color do you prefer, Red or Blue?? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My two cents.

If you can get a FarmTrac 535 w/FEL for $13,900.00 you better jump on that! I would also be weary of the Mahindra's constant running PTO. Not sure who makes the front end loader for the Mahindra but the FarmTrac's front end loader is made in house by FarmTrac in Tarboro, NC. Good luck and keep us posted.

You can purchase the 3525 in Saucier, MS for $10,500 at Scotts Equipment Company. That is quite a savings over the price you quoted.

Hello Stacy Scott of Scott Tractor & Equipment
Long time no see! The times have changed since the Peco Ford toplink days. Don't be a stranger.

In my own opinion I have no trouble saying get the Mahindra. I looked at the FTs and just found the Mahindra to be more of a tractor in many ways. I won't go into it all, but Mahindra is a large company, isn't going away, and they seem to have a good tractor.
You should also be able to do better on the pricing.
