Getting close now.

Used the press to install a new bushing in the idler arm.

The old bushing was paper thin on one side.

The gearbox assembly going on.

The center holes were wallowed out a bit so I went up to the next size. There were washers under the mounting pad, so I made sure they went back in.

Here is where things went sideways on me. The gearbox was slightly tilted to one side, which explains the excessive wear on the pulley underneath. I loosened the mounbolts, but had a heck of a time getting them out. Finally got them removed and added some thick rubber washers between the gearbox and the base plate to straighten things out. Worked like a champ...after two hours of toiling.

Branching off to some other projects.

Pulled the rotary broom snow removal rig into the garage for servicing before the Winter. Last season there were a few times it got dark on me and I had no lights. I used the blue harbor freight lights with the magnet on the back just to get me through. So, today I installed a more permanent solution.

The switch sits nicely between the low oil press light, and ignition switch.

Guardian mulch deck is done, just need to install it.

Belt tensioner pulley going on. Open side of arm faces front of deck.

Got a new pin for the spring tensioner bracket.

Assembly installed and greased. Spring tension is adjusted to 7” per the manual.

Pulled the 325 in to finish preparations for the deck install.

Needed to change the mounting bracket on the left side to the guardian specific one.

She was on there nice and tight so the map torch had to come out and a large hammer.

All installed. I also unscrewed the ball joint with the help of the map torch again. Cleaned the threads up, applied some anti seize, and screwed it in to the recommended measurement of 2.5”

Did the same thing on the right side. Cleaned up, anti seize, and screwed in to 2.75” measured from zerk fitting, to end of push arm where ball joint screws in.

First run of the guardian today.

Deck install on the machine went fine. I had to tighten up the left and rear chains a link or two to get it to lift properly. Once that was done, I mowed a bit with it, but the grass as real wet from all the rain we had yesterday. I did notice it was leaving a ridge between passes, but I haven’t leveled the deck yet with it installed on the machine, so that may be my problem.

I currently have it set at 4” with the spacers, but I might raise it a 1/2” as it seemed to be cutting low to me. Will mess with that tomorrow. There was also a slight vibration while running, but didn’t see anything obvious, might be a blade out of balance.

Will try and take a video during the next run.

Fall is in full swing here and I have been putting the guardian deck through it’s paces, as well as the refurbished 325. So far so good. After some deck leveling and adjustments, it mows beautifully, even better than my side discharge. Mulches dry leaves well, wet...not so much. I find it is best to leave the grass tall and let the leaves fall on on that, as it pushes the leaves up higher into the deck and does a better job chopping them up.

Next order of business is the 322 with 82 seeder.

hi all, my Toro Groundsmaster 325 has a couple issues, it worked good thro summer but looking to do some work on it, firstly its harder starting in hot weather, when it starts there is visible signs of water being spit out for a few seconds, my guess is head gasket and the water is getting in when it sits or cools down, I have no bubbles in the radiator or excessive pressure or overheating, plan was pulling it in over winter and doing a head gasket.

second it refuses to shut down after mowing 4 times out of five, I shut it down by the shutoff bulb side of the injector, there is a noticeable click from the area when the key is turned back and forth from the shutoff so possibly the shutoff is gummed up and sticking.

anyone with ideas its appreciated
