Any TZ owners out there?

From what I have seen of the TZ's they are OK for use as an oversize lawn mower. But if you intend to make real use of the loader and 54" tiller you had better step up to a TC. I am not at all impressed with the TZ's "tractor" capabilities.

"...oversize lawn mower"? Isn't that pretty much the definition of a SubCUT? Are the TZ's ""tractor" capabilities" somehow deficient to other brand's SubCUTs or is it your opinion that all SubCUTs are just not "real tractors"?

IMO, that post has an odd tone coming from a "NH service tech". I'm seriously considering the purchase of a TZ24 from a local dealer. If there's some fault with these machines, I'd certainly like to know about it now. The alternative for me will not be a TC - it'll be a Kubota BX2230.

I have a question, the 18hp TZ and the 22 hp TZ both have the same engine displacement, what is done to up the hp to 22?

Thanks

If you find the tone of my post odd, it is your option to ignore it. I don't work on Kubota BX's and don't think I have ever been within 20 feet of one, so I won't comment on them at all. I just don't think buyers are going to be happy with TZ's if they expect to do a lot of loader, rear PTO, and cat I three point hitch work with one. I hope you are satisfied with whatever choice you make. I don't post here to boost NH sales by BSing folks.

I don't think you have to worry about boosting NH sales with your posts...

I've seen both the Kubotas and the New Hollands. I have not driven either of them. But from what I see, either will do about the same job. I don't think one is any better than the other. Someone once told me the New Holland's 3 point hitch was a little nicer and would adapt to more attachments. Now that is hearsay as I have no knowledge to back that statement up. Both Kubota and New Holland are good products. Kubota has had sub-compacts longer than New Holland so they may a bit more experience in this area, but New Holland is not a new kid on the block either. If it was me, unless the price was a major difference I would go with the one that you thought had the best dealer. Both of them will have troubles and if your dealer is not there to support you then either one of them is no good. After you get comfortable with a dealer then which one do you feel the most comortable on.

That is where I would go, I would not let any comment here sway you. It's your tractor, your investment go with the one you like the best as it is going to be you driving it the next twenty years.

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I`ve had my DX24E for a year now & very satisfied with it .Its basically same as a TZ. have 54" mmm, 60" landpride blade, 48 " tiller , 60" front mount snowblower and soft cab. Don`t have fel yet but plan to this year. I believe 18 or 22 hp would do on everything except snowblower unless you don`t get much snow or in no hurry. I am pleased with blower & power but would not want to go down to 18 for anything on blower. 60" mmm would be okay but I mow rough cemetary with some tight spots where 54" barely fit between stones. Can`t see where reg 24 (TC or DX ) would be any better unless you need more clearance for rough ground as just carrying more wieght with no more power. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks murph - maybe I'll use the same method as Olympic figure skating scoring. Throw out the high score and the low score and take the average. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Pretty much already made up my mind to go with the TZ24. The earlier post was the first negative thing that I'd heard about the TZ's - planted a bit o' doubt on my decision.

I saw the TZ's when I purchased my TC24. They are nice looking machines but are pretty small. I have found the capabilities of my TC24 to be fairly limited but suited to my needs and size requirements.
I would agree that FEL work or other "tractor" type work would be really limited with a TZ. However, as a big lawnmower/garden tractor it would be a great, though, expensive machine. It really depends on your need. If your looking to do more "tractor" type work, I would consider one of the smaller TC's. Just my 2 cents.
