Anybody ever wash Labrador Retriever

I have 3 Labs. When they get muddy (Spring is coming) I toss a toy or cookie into our enclosed shower and join them 1 at a time. I use baby shampoo (easy on their eyes). Best to close off the shower area and have a helper to hand off the dog after you 'scrape' then down with a ruler or sweat comb. Tell them to shake in the shower and do a quick towel off in the bathroom. Then have your helper finish the job. Use water that feels warm to the touch because it REALLY relaxes them. You can expect them to take the rest of the day off napping after a warm shower/bath. We have a shower head extension with a long hose. This helps rinse them off very good. The warm water will also soften their nails just in case they need to be clipped or filed.

When tick season arrives, I use Flea & Tick shampoo on the dogs and myself.

Yup same here, I wash her in the shower, telll her to shake in there, squeeze dry her best as able, pass her off to the wife to finish the towel job...and then doggie sleeps like she's on drugs.

Quincy turned into a mud ball after his evening walk so we took a quick shower and now he's snoozing in front of the fire. Dogs like a routine and he knows the routine well. You get muddy, you take a shower.

Now, if I could only teach him to soap up himself and dry himself, all would be fine.

Besides, he don't 'smell like a dog' now.:)

I take my dogs to the lake, and they wash themselves. Lucky for me I live where the water is crystal clear. In the winter, they wash themselves in the rain and roll in the snow. Once in a while if they get muddy, I'll hose them off. Having a stack of towels at each entrance to the house helps. Neither of them have ever chewed anything that didn't belong to them, and we've never had an accident inside the house. I'm telling you, my dogs are the best.

My last dog loved to roll in smelly things, especially moose ****. Then she would rub against my leg so that I would reach down and pet her... I always thought she did it just to hear me go eww!
One summer I was working in New York. I gave her a bath the day before we left, thinking that she would smell clean for a while as there aren't many moose down there. That lasted about 1/2 a day... I was sitting by a stream eating lunch and looked over to see her rolling in a nice ripe pile of otter ****.

People mention that labs love water. Both my dog and the one that I have now consider a bath one of the worst things which could happen to them.

Too cold to wash the pooch this time of year :) We made the mistake of washing our German Shepherd in the tub.... once. Looked like a tsunami went off in the bathroom  Probably wouldn't be bad if we had a walk in shower with a non slip floor. Let her shake with the door closed. She slips too much in the tub though.

Washing her outside is a real treat. She loves to chase and bite the water coming from the garden hose. I have to wear her out chasing the stream first. Then I strip down to a pair of shorts. Clip her leash on her. And lead her into her kiddie pool. My wife holds the leash while I do the scrubbing. :D We all end up soaked though.
