Anybody have Both...Treadle pedal AND a Twin pedal

When I first got my tractor the treadle was sorta awarked for me.
I was trying to rock my ankle up and down to go backward and forward.
This was making my foot and leg tired and putting a strain on my back..

I found that by sliding my foot forward on the pedal to go forwqrd and back on the pedal for reverse worked much better & relevied the strain on my leg , foot and back.
After I got usted to doing it like this I don't have to thinking about using the pedal it just comes natural and theTreadle Pedal is great.

I have had both types of HST control. My MF1225 had the twin pedals and my MF1235 has the rocker pedals (treadle). The only problem I had with the twin pedal type control was sometimes pushing both pedals at the same time. Maybe they were too close to each other.

I have both and like the treadle better.

My Dad just got a new JD LT (160) I think. He keeps it in one of those little metal buildings you can buy from Sears for a couple hundred dollars. There is now a huge dent in the back wall where he pushed the GO pedal down harder thinking it was the brake. That's what 78 years of manual transmissions do to you... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Seriously, once he got used to it, he liked it. He mows 2 acres and doesn't complain about it. I guess it boils down to personal preference?

I have both, and for me I prefer the treadle design. I have a Kubota B7500 and a JD LX277. Someone else said, that whatever you are used to, will always seem the best. However, these are the simple points that make my Kubota a little easier. First of all, there is no question of whether you are pressing the forward or reverse pedal with the Kubota. I have accidently pressed the wrong pedal many times on my JD, especially after using my Kubota. The other thing is I find it much easier (ergonomic) to go in reverse with the Kubota because it allows you to turn your body further which reduces neck strain. If you have to keep your right leg fully extended, and then turn you head around, it puts more strain on your neck.

As far as which one my wife prefers.... There is no way on God's green earth that my wife would ever get on my Kubota.... It scares her.... She loves the little JD

Simple points, but they are my preference. I don't do any brake steering, so that is not an issue for me.

My New Holland has the treadle. I have only been able to use my neighbors John Deeres on a few occasions and I do like the treadle over the twin pedals. The treadel just seems smoother as you don't have to move your foot from one pedal over to the other.

I have a Snapper 1650 HST with foward mounted treadle and a Mahindra 2015 HST with it mounted just where your leg would naturally rest. The only problem is it is one arm with pad in front and pad in back and it takes at least a size 13 to rest on both at once. Mine fits, size 13, but I intend to put aluminum diamond plate to connect both so it will be less of a stretch.. john

The first treadle pedal I ever saw was on a Bolens Tractor back in the seventies or eighties.

Unless you want to count the one on my mothers Singer Sewing Machine back in the fifties.

The only problem I had with the treadle in the beginning was learning to back up my van again.

I was using the new tractor a lot more than my van, and every time I drove my van and needed to back up I kept pushing down with my heel and wondering why the van was not moving... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If both wern't equally good, one would probably be history by now... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

OK.... As long as you've admitted it Henro..... I have darn near put my Jeep into the garage door, side of our house, retaining wall and our big cedar tree countless times after using my tractor /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Why can't they just make all these darn pedals standard???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I have horrible visions of me being that "confused" driver that puts his car through a store front /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.... after a day of tractoring.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
