What if you shocked your well to get rid of E. Coli, and accidentally put in 4x the amount of Chlorine (don't ask/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif)? Would the chlorine flowing into the septic kill the bacteria? Shortly after I made this mistake, my septic seemed to be flowing slower than usual. With these new low flow toilets, the decreased flow caused more back-ups. I thought maybe I would need to pump the tank. Now 4 months have passed, and the slow draining seems to have stopped. Could it be because the bacteria count went way down, causing a build-up of solids, and now the bacteria count is back to normal, "chewing" away at the solids again? Should I consider an additive just to be sure the bacteria are working again? Should I have it pumped? I have read somewhere (probably here) that you should pump the tank every 4-6 years regardless. Lets hear it, guys.
