I hadn't heard of it, and don't have a septic system, but I just received an e-mail from them trying to sell me the product!/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

Do you think that someone has collected the e-mail addresses from TBN /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif or is this just a wild coincidence?

I do not like Web sites that do not put their mailing address and phone numbers.

Not sure.... I would shy away from a product like this.

It is not possible to "harvest" email addresses from the TBN forums.

Usually these kind of spam offers just e-mail to 20-50 million addresses, which are purchased in bulk from various sources. I get at least a dozen day, and just delete them. Nothing seems to stop them...

I was suggesting that it IS possible to "collect" them from the profiles, not the forums.
As you suggest, probably just a coincidence./w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

Well, we certainly don't sell addresses... one would have to view individual profiles to get e-mail addresses. There's the chance that it was coincidence as BobT mentioned.

A well working septic system doesn't need any additives. If your careful about what you put into it, it should never give you a problem where you'd need an additive./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I was told by our local Health Department Inspector that septic additives were a waste of money. The best additive is a good ol' BM!
I remember as a kid my parents put a chunk of meat into our sepric tank when it was new to 'get it going'.
As long as you don't put anything down that will kill the bacteria in the tank you should not have any problems.

I agree with Argee and House. All of those products are just a scam. Natural bacteria will take care of things for you. If you have a garbage disposal, things like bread or just yeast will help it along. Save your money...for tractor stuff!!!!!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

What if you shocked your well to get rid of E. Coli, and accidentally put in 4x the amount of Chlorine (don't ask/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif)? Would the chlorine flowing into the septic kill the bacteria? Shortly after I made this mistake, my septic seemed to be flowing slower than usual. With these new low flow toilets, the decreased flow caused more back-ups. I thought maybe I would need to pump the tank. Now 4 months have passed, and the slow draining seems to have stopped. Could it be because the bacteria count went way down, causing a build-up of solids, and now the bacteria count is back to normal, "chewing" away at the solids again? Should I consider an additive just to be sure the bacteria are working again? Should I have it pumped? I have read somewhere (probably here) that you should pump the tank every 4-6 years regardless. Lets hear it, guys.
