Anybody like their R4 tires in snow

To me the r4's are the swiss army of tires, try to do it all but not very well. Get Chains!!! Tirechains.com. Its cheaper than having different sets of tires.

No doubt! I purchased V-bars (for my R4s on 2720) from them at beginning of last week....they arrived Thursday! Granted "Tirechains.com" and I are both in PA, but they obviously wasted no time processing order and putting out in shipping. Great price too.

Now that chains are on tractor.....it probably won't snow

Good eyes!!!

Jeez!! I don't think I'd want to plow down that slope!

I would imagine when he can see it, he stops but when he can't the road is probably free of traffic and so ..etc :D

I use Turf specials with no chains and I did very well in the heavy snow we had last season. i have chains that will fit the front, but have not put them on. I sized the rears, but the cost was too high. i have been thinikning aboutt using MaxiGrip Studs on my small R-4s and just switching out the tires in the winter.

I would think that may be a better combination for me rather than using the chains.

Regarding the studs, are they easy to install and take off?

Amazing how this topic has such varied opinions. NOTHING is as good as chains.

Nothing other than chains or tracks works good in wet slippery snow. R4's are fine as long as it's cold and crisp.

LOL, this topic is likely the subject of the most cumulative comments on TBN!

I have used maxi-studs on my 3320 with FEL for a few years...in that we do get icing hear in Maine..my previous tractors used chains..they do a surprisingly good job...very easy to install and would be easy to remove...though I keep mine on (my driveway is rotten rock, not asphalt)....they come with a installation tool...with a electric drill and the attachment the process is quick and painless.

So far yes, they work for me. No question R1's have better traction, But remeber my 4520 weights 3700lbs+ the loader weights 952lbs. It does depend alot on you tractor's weight. Loaded tires help alot.

I leave the rear studded chains on all winter on my cg2410 mostly use the bucket to clean up & stack w/ the backhoe on . Had front chain on but have taken them off rather have less steering than brake something . Goes like a tank with these on the back snow so deep so pushing w/ the hood. The exhaust was also blowing the snow up

R4s are way better than turfs in snow. Turfs don't clean themselves out, R4 tires will.
