I seem to be constantly changing the position of my forks, and would love to be able to do that from the operator station (wish I could say cab... it gets hot and buddy in FL). If I understand the terminology correctly slide shift is when the entire carriage moves, opposed to the individual forks moving closer, or further apart. I would be more interested in the latter. I have a hydraulic circuit avail, but with approx 12gpm flow, and only an on/off elec solenoid, it might require an orifice to slow things down. I would also be open to elec. linear actuators. So has anyone added this feature?

Side shift is generally a function on a REAL forklift. Trying to implement such a thing for a skid steer would make a very tippy machine. Making it for a tractor loader could easily twist the loader.

There are many makers of SSQA pallet forks that have hydraulic fork adjustment options...

Adding your own shouldn't be difficult given you have a good set of forks to work with, can fabricate cylinder mounts, and work out the hydraulics.

It would also push the forks forward which will decrease capacity a bit. Either you need a mechanism to synchronize the forks (usually gears & chain) or 2 seperate cylinders, 1 for each fork.

I've thought about modifying my forks in that manner. But the cost in time, money & lift capacity made me decide against it. At least for now.

Here's what I'm tempted to try: a small electric or hydraulically driven screw setup that works essentially like a turnbuckle, with both left and right-hand threads on a shaft. Spin the shaft, and nuts (one mounted on each fork) either go together or apart. Could be driven from the center or either end, heck, could even put a hand-wheel on it. This assumes that your forks actually slide relatively easily; I'll have to work on mine, as they are a bit sketchy.
