Recommendations for Pallet Forks

For being skid steer forks I am impressed with the ones that I got from Titan. I bought a set of 48" 4k pound forks from them and last weekend I used them to lift and move a 12' Oliver tow behind disc. Instead of properly slinging it I was in a hurry and just put about 6" of the end of the forks under the transport wheel axle and lifted it right up and moved it to where I wanted it. Probably 2500 pounds hanging out on the end of the forks and no bad behavior. Glad my tires are loaded and I had the 10' Shulte mower on the 3 point. The welds on them are typical chinese booger welds instead of the nice robot welds we are all getting used to seeing on new products but they work and are easy to fix if they become a problem.

Being in a Very similar spot to buy forks for the exact same tractor are you still happy with 48" vs 42".

Thanks Charles

I debated the length up until I purchased them. No complaints with the 48” and was glad to have them for the mats. I have so many odd ball things on the forks like posts and such I figured the length would help. Also I wanted to make sure I could reach into my truck bed. I haven’t used them a whole lot yet with pallets but thus far I have had no regrets.

On my old L3200 & new L4060 the forks are on more than the bucket. And I'm as likely to use it non-pallet things (like the aforementioned piles of posts or lumber & using them to attach chains or straps to for lifting things) as pallets. I moved a shed with them the other day (lift a corner shove posts under to roll on then push with the forks or fork frame).

Thanks for the input, I think 48" makes sense, probably get away with using longer when needed just can't make the short ones longer

Remember that forks only need to be about 3/4 the size of the load or pallet to be functional.
Overly long can be cumbersome and damaging.

On fork lifts used in warehouse applications 42" was the most popular.
(I once sold lifts)

I bought Construction Attachments heavy duty forks. They worked several years but eventually both forks failed. Block welded to the top of each fork with the spring loaded locking pin, and which resists the bending load on the forks, failed welds. Both sides about 50% of the length of welds had penetrated into only one side of the joint. Was lucky they didn't fail when it could have really done damage.
