I am interested in building/buying a power rake for light landscape work.

We have solid, hard clay. Will these break up the clods? How well do they work for you?

The brochures make it look nice.

Would like to use one in the straight mode as a kind of verticutter, and angled to rough up the dirt some.

Your thoughs please?

THANKS,
Ron

Like a woods power rake....

And others mfg them. I've not seen one work.

It has a gearbox driving a rotating roller, and the roller has teeth on it, so as you move forward under tractor power, the roller rotates using PTO power, and it knives through the soil to break clods/prepare seedbeds.

Some of them angle up to 15 degrees, so that when you move forward, it "tosses" the soil either left or right. In this mode, I would think it would pulverize the soil more.

Of course, as in all brochures, you see the before (trashy) and the after (smooth as silk).... Your mileage might vary! Hah.

Thanks,
Ron
