Anyone else getting quoted insane prices for work around your place?

I have done most of the work on my home but the home generator, solar system, hot tub, windows, garage door and soon vinyl siding. I did cut some costs down by doing some work myself like wndows, I did the interior trim and sill work, hot tub, I dug the trench, ran the conduit and built the patio.

Another shyster I heard about failed to pay the roofer for a new roof on the house after it was finished unless the roofer lowered the price $1000. The roofer said he was going to put a lien on the house. The shyster replied "go ahead, I put the house in my grandson's name and it won't be sold for over 50 years so you can wait for your money and keep renewing the lien each year." The contractor finally came down on his price and lost money on the job.

If I was that neighbor you felt bad about, I would have hired an attorney and sued you for damages.
While what you did sounds like deserved prairie justice, damaging the neighbors property was reckless and could have gotten someone completely innocent hurt. I知 surprised you weren稚 legally prosecuted. You took the law into your own hands instead of following the very easy to use legal system, and you damaged a completely innocent persons property.

In-office surgery. $750 (insurance knocked it down to $200)

And save you flying off the handle? The guy got what he deserved. He also got a neighbor that was really p*ssed. Double whammy. And what do you care, they were rich people in really rich neighborhoods. You don't like them anyway....

I never stuck around to find out who paid what. I was still out my money... But I sure felt better, I was able to move on.
