Anyone else love tools like I do?

I would rather something be lying on the floor or bench top then stuffed in a drawer with unrelated stuff.

My BIGGEST issue? Stuff nicly packed away in boxes, in cabinets, one piled in front of the other and you have to take out ten to get at one, only to find the thing you seek, not there, or the wrong thing, then leaving everything on the floor.

That's why you gotta stuff it in with related stuff, like moi. Then, people come over and marvel at how clean my floor and benches are...only I know my dirty secret.

I even freak out, when the Lady Friend wants to clear off the dining table (so we can eat), and if she had her way, would put all manner of unrelated stuff in ONE box! Happened only last weekend. MAYBE, I did have a drink or two, but I proceeeded to park the stuff in seperate places all over the kitchen, to TRY and make my point.

I like good packaging, and those look great. Does the tool quality look like it's as nice as the packaging? I'm sure those are imported like nearly everything these days, but in what country are they made?

Quick story about changing the oil on my wife's new GMC Yukon. I took off the oil cap set it down, went inside the garage to get a rag to check the oil and I never saw the oil cap again. I looked for more than an hour in every crack and crevis on that thing. I stook back thinking is it in plain sight and I just don't see it, after all, it's as big as a baseball it can't hide in that many spots.

I never did find it I had to order a new on. That bugged me the entire time we owned that vehicle. I was always waiting for it to pop out and tear up the radiator and fan as it bounced around.

I'm lucky to have some of my father's old hand tools. Not many; a few pliers, one hammer, and his old trim saw.
And although he has been gone for 50 years, sometimes when I pick up one of his favorites and begin to use it I can feel him come and stand there. Quiety nodding, watching, and approving as I work.

I still can't cut anything straight to save my life. MAYBE it's remembering my father (still alive) telling me (with apparent disgust) how to use the TOTAL stroke of the blade or that it only cuts in one direction.

my collectables is pretty thin actually, a few #3 Die cast cars is about it and a few Tim Cox paintings.

It never ceases to amaze me, how many tools I often have out at the completion of a "simple" task. Tools usually do get put away, but I still have a HUGE mess everywhere from finished projects.
