Anyone ever see/use a box scraper/box blade like this one ?

Hey everyone...

I've stumbled upon a 4ft box scraper made by ARPS (model M179) and before I pull the trigger,
I'm curious if anyone has any experience with them.
It's heavier than it looks, but I don't any specs on it.
Not sure of the age, but it's probably 20-30yrs or more.
Unfortunately the seller painted it recently, but said it just had some surface rust on it prior to painting it.

I've sent the manufacturer an inquiry, but not response yet.

Will be used with an Ingersoll 7020 (4wd). 20hp and spprox 2,000 lbs (wheel weights not shown in pic).



I took some measurements and it will fit very nicely on the cat 0 hitch.

I've looked at a few of the new cat 0 compatible units and they mostly look pretty flimsy compared to this ARPS

I've never seen one of those, but it looks heavy duty for its size and well built. I like the hinged rear tailgate.

Do you know if the tailgate can be locked shut? Being able to lock it shut is really handy for fine grading. It keeps the front facing blade from digging in as aggressively (especially if you lengthen the top link so the box blade is tilted back a bit).

I would jump on it if the price is right. It looks to be built better than most modern ones that I see in a 4' size.

It should fit your little Ingersoll (which I think is really cool). If you dig aggressively with it, it will probably stop your little tractor dead in its tracks, but should work fine if used moderately.

Yes, can be locked down or up completely.
That's what I noticed too... the current crop (not all, but most) of cat 0 box blades seem pretty flimsy.
The attachment points seem pretty beefy for a cat 0 implement.

I'd go for it if you're sure it will fit your tractor.

If you buy it right and don't like it, you can sell it and get your money back out of it. But I suspect you'll like it and find it very useful.

Approx 950 lbs Ken... it was originally designed by the construction division of Case as a loader, not a tractor with a loader added to it.

I have one exactly like yours except I only have a 36" version. I only have 3 rippers on mine. It is very heavy for it's size and works quite well. I wish I had the 48" as mine doesn't cover the width of my tractor footprint. I have no problem picking mine up with the 3 point even with my 250# neighbor on it.

Thanks for that Dave, I was hoping to find someone who used the same one, even it it was a different size.

Looks like a very well-made piece of equipment. I'm thinking your tractor would handle it well. My Kubota B2150 (22 hp after allowing for HST) handles a 5' Howse hinged box blade with no problems.

A negotiating point for you (seller may already have factored this in) is that it won't work with a quick-hitch adapter, which I gather you don't intend to use anyway. Could be converted, but it would require fabricating and welding heavy gussets on either side of the center strut, then cutting out the section within the toplink bracket.
