. I stocked up on incandescents too. I am also armed and willing to defend them.

Nice gift for your mom. But unless they are gift, you should do math. How it works out, dunno. But $8, vs under a buck, does warrant it.Mom likes the LED light... I paid around $8 a bulb back then... although I have friends in other parts of the country that paid $4 for CREE through some utility rebate program...
Electricity here is high and typically it averages out around 25 cents a kWh
Yes, you can. but they are not as cost effective as buying two 60 watt equivalent bulbs. And 150 watt eq, and 300 watt eq. become even more problematic and less cost effective. In other words, it doesn't cost much more to make an incandescent 150 watt bulb over a 60 watt incandescent bulb. But it costs a lot more to make a 150 watt eq. LED bulb vs. a 60 watt eq. LED bulb.
I installed my first LED bulb in my house last night. I know, I'm behind times. I thought it would be much whiter than what I'm used to. Nope, more of a yellow tint. Is that normal?
Don't forget about the lower CURRENT in your wiring. Excess current is what damages insulation. In my present house I could NOT turn on all of the lights without tripping breakers. No longer now that I am 90% LED
