I am considering buying one of the mini trucks and found out from another thread(http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/119363-just-me.html) that you can get them cheap from Japan but must be bought 6 or 7 in a container to get the good deal. I thought a few people here could all go in on the container. I am close to Houston , a big port. Not sure about getting them to you but I would like any thoughts if your interested.
Thanks.

I hope I don't ruin a deal for you but I read on another site they were NOT legal in the USA?
They are cute
:)

I don't think they're _street_ legal any more than a tractor would be.

UVa here has some trucks similar to the one mentioned in one of the articles cited.

Do a search on Google for "small diesel pickup" and you'll find a bunch of references to Mahindra's plans to bring over a small pickup with a hybrid diesel drive train.

Toyota showed a small pickup similar to the Subaru one that was discontinued this year. Toyota's was called the "Abat". It apparently uses a Prius hybrid drive train. Wish they'd just put out another Tacoma with Prius drive train. However, I'd prefer just a plain diesel with stick shift. That's simpler and has about the same fuel economy as a gas hybrid.

This country will be a better place if we can wean folks off their large pickup trucks. Just rent a Uhaul or a big pickup when you need to tow or carry something really big. Bet that isn't very often in most cases. I just got back from a trip to Ohio with a Uhaul. It had a regular ball hitch on it for towing. We just used it to carry over a bedroom set to our daughter. Think it got about 13 mpg, pretty close to what a big pickup gets.

I am aware that you cannot put them on the street, it is a bigger and cheaper alternative to a utv, and a cab to boot.

If they made a 3 wheel version it could be a motorcycle
:)

I'll look for the ad for you...... there is a guy up here in New England that imports them. He always has several for sale. Perhaps it may be just as efficient to buy one from him and have it shipped to Texas.... or come up here to get it?

WTF??????.......Seriously?????

You do own a tractor right? Do you haul it?

This country would be better off if everyone would stop assuming they know what is best for everyone else. Next you'll tell me global warming is real:rolleyes:

As for the mini trucks. I've seen quite a few but never had the chance to drive one. In the heavy equipment trader I see them from time to time. Some of them are tracked too. I'd love to get one for hauling dirt on my property. I'm in the process of leveling a large area that will one day be my back yard and my kids play area and I'm taking all the dirt around to the front to build up the slope and have a nice level front yard too.

I'll have to look around again but an importer in North Royalton, OH gets them in from time to time as well. He had REALLY good prices on stuff.
