Anyone miss the larger cars?

Remember the trunk payloads, had beefer leaf springs and could carry more than a modern truck.

There is no doubt that the newer vehicles handle better and are safer, but for many of the smaller midsize cars they just are not comfortable. As an example We purchased my wife a new car in 2011, her dream car BMW 535xi, just have 5,000 miles I am much more comfortable in my chevy avalanche on a long trip. I do miss my first set of wheels a 1965 Buick GS with the 400 under the hood, another favorite was a 64 Impala with a 283 that car was a tank.

Yes, you're safer inside a tank, but it that the best vehicle to drive to preserve the world's petroleium/fuels, etc.?

I always hated those big cars. Ride was good, but handling was abysmal. Almost any car, even the bigger ones and SUVs, handle MUCH better than those old beasts of any kind. So, for avoiding an accident through handling, the newer cars/vehicles are all better.

I miss just being able to see where the corners are on our car. Our 1983 Benz had seating and such that we could see all 4 corners of the car. Not so in today's aerodynamic whats-its. Can't even see the 2 front corners and can only see the rear corners out of the side mirrors. Need cameras to see the corners and behind cars nowadays to be as safe as we were back in the 1980s.

Could be one of the appeals of the ****, heavy, fuel inefficient SUVs. You can still see the corners.

As I'm aging the hearing has deteriorated. Makes it hard to know where the corners are cause can't hear the crunch.

Is your wife fairly short? I ask because my knees are pretty creaky too, and I find small/mid-sized cars extremely uncomfortable to drive due to the lack of legroom and general cramped-ness of the interior. Asian makes are the worst, but no one else is all that much better. I'm 6', I don't know how people taller than me do it.

Shop around and find one that can be lowered for loading.

Kidnapper trunks? Mafia trunks? I thought they were drive-in movie trunks.
