We used a similar unit that was towed by a tractor at higher speed. It was called a Rotary Hoe.

Looks like a segment from a Lilliston rolling cultivator, used for cultivation and weed removal of row crops in California. There are righthand and lefthand units, can't see this good enough to tell which.Hey all, hoping someone on here will have seen this before and know how/what it's used for. I found this around the barn. My FIL used to have a super A, 140 and years ago a JD 4010 I think it was.
I am hoping it is used to clear weeds out of the rows.
Also if someone has used this before do you mount it with the spurs pointing out? How deep does it run? Surface or all the way down?
It has a 1" shank so I could mount them on my cultivator mount.
