Ballast Anyone Use Bar Bells as Rear Wheel Weights????????

/ Anyone Use Bar Bells as Rear Wheel Weights???????? #21
I only put the 250lb of wheel weight on to help with traction when using a front blade or front blower. When using the FEL (or forks), I put another 900lb weight on the 3-pt.

In general, I would think that you would want to add approximately 1/2 of your loader rating to the rear of the tractor. For example, if the loader is rated for 2500 lbs, you would want to put about 1000 to 1500 on the back in some combination of the 3-pt, in the tires, or on the wheels.

Wow!!?? Half of the loader rating? I assume that some of you have weights mounted on the 3-point hitch to meet this.

To continue....How do you mount weight on the 3-point?

Hi...

EZ Weight supports...

Yeah... the standard barbell weight plates fit over the 1" rod just perfectly... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now I gotta' get (60) 1/2" washers to shim out the 6 support brackets away from the wheel to make it fit right...

I asked the question (think it was under the Kubota owning/operating section) about what people use as rear wheel weights. Got lots of replies and some nice pictures of gizmos that hold cheap weights on the wheels.

Just go back a ways or use "weight" in the search area.

EZ Weight hardware installed...

Easy enough job...

(3) 50 lb barbell plates on each wheel... room for 1 or 2 more on each wheel...

I'm trying to figure out your setup.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Did you get 2" hole-diameter plate and have to make some sort of filler...?

And I can't figure out what the black pipe is at the end of the threaded part...

Dave, I am interested in the guard around your valve stem. Did the rim come that way or did you add it? I looks like it is welded on. I broke a valve stem while clearing brush and would like to prevent that from occuring again.

Hi...

Standard barbell plates with 1+" diameter center hole fit over 1" diameter center rod...

Black " thing" on the end is black rubber pipe insulation fit over the 1" rod as a protection cushion...
