I'm happy either way I just enjoy seeing how everybody does things differently. How many acres do you own/work?

I don't own any land. My dad owns 20 acres and the farm rents land from him. We might have 2 acres in cultivation, but only 3/5 of that is vegetables every year. My wife and I are buying out our neighbors property this year. He owns 20 acres also with 4 of them in apple orchard. After that we'll probably add another acre of veggies, but I'm not sure which crops yet. I don't want to just add 30% to referring across the board, but rather focus on one to three crops that I can cultivate mechanically, at least in some part. I'm thinking carrots, onions, leeks maybe. Something that stores well and gives a decent return per acre.

I'll have to check. I assumed it was the same. When you say center to center, you are talking about the length of the three point arm measured from the center of the balls, right?

Yes, 30" from center of ball to center of ball.

So you make a living on 2 acres of veggies or are you working a day job as well?

I sent you a PM, but no, neither of us work a day job. We pick up a little work on the side but the farm is the majority of our income. At this point our expenses are low and we are plowing part of the profit back into the business. In particular we expanded our high tunnel area and are almost doubling our syrup production this year.

We differ from most farms in that almost all of our seeding and cultivation is done by hand. That lets us pack much more produce per acre than larger operations.

That would be awesome!! I appreciate you chiming in. I've thought about the Pat's, but I'd have to get the weld on ones because I don't want my implements further out from the tractor.

Part of my issue is that I have about a dozen three point attachments and I use most of them both tractors. When they are on my New Holland, the PTO shafts are almost too long to fit, and on the Kubota are almost not long enough. Also, we grow veggies in raised beds that curve to follow a hillside. Any extra distance between the tractor and the implement make it harder to keep things where they need to be.

Anyway, thanks for considering it. It gives me hope that someone will be interested in the switch.

If you call Pat's they can make a set that will replace the extendable ends, so there's no welding and no added length. I have the regular Pat's installed now that my dad had bought then took off a different tractor, but I plan to buy the ones that replace the extendable links soon.

As far as the length of the arms, I checked a while back and I'm 99% sure that the current and previous versions of the MX have the same part numbers for the 3pt hitch components, as well as some of the grand L models.

Good for you, that's an honest living in the best sense of the phrase.

Just trying to help out the OP...

Found this reference to L8430 telescopic link kit. See page 2 http://cdn-2.psndealer.com/e2/dealersite/clientcontent/cavalierintl/kubota-service.pdf These are for L-Series tractors, but maybe they will work with your tractor.

Found a listing for them in the 2016 wholegoods price sheet so they were still available last year. Cost: $175.00. These would be purchased through Sales not the Parts Department.

Also found MX9495, Telescoping Link Ends and Stabilizer Kit $384.00 This info came from Wholegoods August 17, 2016. This is likely to work for your M-series tractor.
Hope you find the info useful.

I did the weld on pats hitch on my l3200. I did it because I had a couple driveshafts that just weren't going to be long enough and since I was going to get a pats anyways I just got the weld on ones. Sure does make life a lot easier 1485230423862.jpg
