The best way to weld with a generator is to purchase a gas or diesel welder, I purchased a Miller 250 bearcat, it is rated 250 amp AC DC stick, has high frequency for tig add on and 10,000 watt generator, mine is gas, does have auto idle, it will run any accessory I have plugged into it, including the house when power goes out, put it in the truck and its great for remote welding anywhere, it is sold thro acklands granger and on sale its just under $2700.00, add up the features and its great value,
