Are tractors with cabs becoming the norm?

After having an open station and now having a cab tractor, I would never consider going back to open staion.

We are pretty lucky;one of each!Open station L3000DT is a beast in the woods, hard to believe what that little tractor can pull.On the other hand the cab sure is nice in the winter plowing for 3-4 hours.

Probably.

For non-commercial users, boomers have the biggest chunk of the disposable income and they (we) are getting old and soft.

I "Present" that remark! Grin

I envy you retired guys! :irked: I've got a few years to go yet.

Well sir when you get there you will wonder how you found time to work your current job. Also you will surely see the reason why us old pfarts buy the tractors with the C behind the model number.

I thought I wanted cab but realized before I bought that being an office cube monkey all week, I enjoy being in the fresh air, hot, cold or whatever...

We ended up buying a larger then expected tractor and one with a cab then origonally planned. We wanted a 30hp open station tractor because it would be big enough to handle our tasks and open station would be cheaper. We got lucky and found a rare deal with a Mahindra 3616 cabed tractor at a price that beat most 30hp open station tractors. We had a 52 8n prior and after getting the cab there is no comparison. In the winter on the coldest of nights I can start the tractor up, turn the heat on and take my coat off and move snow in my T-Shirt. That is worth it alone. It is almost as nice in the summer when I'm mowing and I can have the a/c on. It also provides a much cleaner and comfortable mowing time then without. Previously without a cab it can get pretty windy often enough that I would have to wear gogles to keep all the blowing grass out of my eyes. It also got in every nook and cranny on you as well. The cab keeps all that off of me and out of my eyes.

If I want the outdoors feeling I can open the back window and let one of the doors swing open for some good air flow. I don't have too many trees to worry about and trimmed them up right away to avoid any problems.

Just bought my first tractor this year and when i looked at a cab model ...... thought ..wouldn't want to be in that confined space.
Operated heavy equipment for over 30 years and never want to be in another cab.
Many times climbing into many different cabs I thought the people that design them should have to operate them.
Just my opinion.
Cheers.

I love the cab on the 5740 but there's plenty of days I wish the windows opened up more...Seems I always have the a/c or heat on..
