My Godfather started the original Weber Grill Company. He and my dad actually sat around drinking beer working on the first gas grill prototype, which was a red round kettle like the black charcoal ones we commonly see today. Anyway, I decided to break tradition and "buy my last grill first" as DuKane said. I just didnt care for the Weber Genesis back then. The next year, Weber bought out DuKane.

After 12 years, I was forced to rebuild my DuKane after the stainless steel flame arrestors and burners rotted out... mind you TONS OF USE. Although I found the parts for less than $100 on a $700 grill, I will be calling up George for a Weber next time. My sister and father in law have Genesis grills and love them. Ive cooked on both and see why. The DuKane had a lifetime warranty on the stainless itemswhen I bought mine, but a rash if junk stainless and faulty design hung them out to dry. I got stuck... no lifetime for me.

I have the Genesis Silver. I have owned it probably a decade. I have not put another dime into it and it performs and looks like new. I wash it each spring, but use it all year. Before that, I had been through 2 grills in about 5 years and needed to replace cheap parts regularly. This grill has been worth every penny and the non stick grates are my favorite part. I keep it outdoors and don't have a cover for it anymore as it the one I had rotted out and molded within a couple winters. The grill still cleans up new looking. Can't say enough good about it. I would certainly buy another if and when that time might ever come.

Same story here - can't remember the model, but it is stainless steel, 3 burner, kept outside. Don't need a cover for it in SS, tractorshopper is right, covers rot off in a couple years anyway.

We had to replace a metering valve - spiders got in there & cobwebs hardened & clogged it. That's it! I think it's around 10 years old - we bbq all the time on the deck.

I highly recommend Weber, if your time is as important to you as mine is.

Genesis 3x here, bought it last summer and it's a nice unit. had several others before, but no matter how much I paid for them, they hardly lasted a couple of years. we keep it covered on the deck (mostly) and I just bought a package of two grill guard sheets (thin thingys that keep the bbq sauce and marinade on top, not dropping down into the burners). they're pretty cool, actually, bought them at a Home Show from a guy hawking 'em like a carnival ride... the grill etching is still on the meat, and the meat lays in the sauce - makes the cleanup lots faster!

Yes, don't waste your money on any other grill. I have had numerous gas grills over the years. My weber is the best I've ever owned. I grill a lot. At least twice a week every week year around. I think I've replaced the flavor bars once. I bought mine in 2008 or early 2009 and I think I'm just now needing to replace the burners. But like I said, I grill A LOT! Everything else on the grill is just as new as when I bought it. My igniter did go out a while back but I don't care. I've got an old grill lighter that sits on the side that just the igniter works on I use every time that works just fine.

I just bought a TRAEGER smoker at Costco during a special event they had. MY GOODNESS I have never has such delicious food in my life. I was always afraid of smokers because of the attention needed. Not this one, it's electric with pellets and a digital thermometer. Here's how difficult it is - NOT. Start the gill let it get to 450 place a seasoned chicken or two in it, one hour later take it out. Some of most juicy flavorful chicken you will ever eat. Ribs - Cook on low three hours, then foil wrap and cook 350 for an hour. I guarantee you've never tasted better ribs. I've done steaks, vegetables, potatoes etc. I told the wife last night it's like I've never had good BBQ in my life till I got this thing.
