Are your "hummers" leaving early?

We started slow but ended up with higher numbers than the previous 2 years we've been here. We have 7 feeders out and they have been steadily used to being swarmed. I expect it to slack off anytime now.

We have had the normal numbers this year, showed up about a week late. Feeder is still getting emptied in about 3 days. The number of deer, turkeys, fox and eagles in our area is way down this year. The number of squirrels and chipmunks are down as well, but we know the reason for that.

We have had a lot of them this year and the feeder activity has been high for the past couple of weeks. They are usually very active for the last couple of weeks before they head South. The females normally leave about a week before the males. Last year it was 9/14 when the last of the males left.

Here in NW Georgia our hummer numbers are totally abnormaly LOW. In addition, they were two to three weeks late in getting here. Usually we have 3 or 4 types of owls around at night, a nesting hawk and some soaring around, and LOTS of bluebirds.............This year NONE.......nada........Something is going on..........God bless........Dennis

Saw two in April. Haven't seen any since. Must be the drought.

We started out kinda slow with only 3-4 adults. Ended with around 8 adults and just a few young. I took the feeder down about three weeks ago - the bees and wasps were overrunning the darn thing. They must have been getting something, otherwise, I see no reason for them to waste their time.

Definitely fewer young this year. Sure glad to hear they are normal or up in some areas. Like many have said - most all animals are down in numbers this year.

Our resident family is still here with offspring too. Saw them about an hour ago at the feeder. We get the same group/family every year. Don't know how they know to come back here, but they do and of course the wife makes sure they have food at all times. They like to hover by the front porch and look in the windows. Interesting birds.

We have had more than usual this year. We keep two feeders out and had about 2 dozen jockeying for position around them a couple of weeks ago. Since then the number seems to have declined. Maybe some have started heading south.

We've had 12-14 birds on back feeder and 3-5 on the two others this summer. For about 4 weeks we we're going through over 1/2 gallon of nectar a day. They started pulling out about mid week last week and we're down to around 5-6 birds now and don't know how many of them are "travelers". I figure that inside of two week they'll all have left this area.
