I have a dump trailer and they are nice but I think I would get one a little smaller than the one I have. It is a little heavy in wet situations and I could use it as a wood gathering trailer then also.

I would also say that a dump trailer is much more useful. I had a mostly lawn care company but we did some landscaping too. We had our utility trailer for moving mowers and equipment around, but when it came time for mulch it was a pain to remove from the trailer. I have seen people using dump trailers to move tractors with as well, assuming they are sized right.

I for one think you need at least one more trailer, maybe two or three. Hope that helps in your endeavor to get another trailer.

I am a subscriber of that belief also. One can not have to many trailers. I have 3 different sized utility trailers a dump trailer and a skidkoader trailer. I dont think I would want to hook up the dump every time I wanted to haul my Rhino or quad. You dont move a dump by hand. At least mine. Although the wife thinks I have to many trailers.

Ok, now I want a dump trailer too! Yikes.

What I primarily want with a trailer is to haul logs and firewood around the property. I have 80 20' long logs to move, cut up, split, and stack. I can't carry much wood on my FEL, even using the forks. I think I can do this with a small utility trailer. Once I have the trailer, there are obviously lots of secondary uses: haul mower, trash, brush, lumber, etc. I would like the trailer easy to hitch to the truck. With a light weight utility trailer, I don't have to back the truck up perfectly to hook up the trailer.

If I could haul my tractor on a dump trailer, I might consider selling my existing 22' long (bed length) trailer and buying a dump trailer. I could see the usefulness of being able to haul dirt, mulch, etc. Emtying a pickup load of mulch by hand is a slow process. I wouldn't want to haul dirt in my pickup bed; that's just too messy with the truck tool box and bed liner. I don't really want to own a heavy dump trailer and my tractor hauling trailer too.

We used to be trailer trash. We owned a 28 ft storage trailer, a 13 ft camper, a 22 ft tractor hauling trailer, all while we lived in a 36 ft 5th wheel camper. We still own the small 13 ft camper and the tractor hauling trailer. Sometime in the near future I would like to own a utility trailer.

I think 3 trailers are enough for us. Trailers aren't particularly attractive. Our lot is all woods. Anything we buy will be sitting around near the house.

Yesterday I inspected our chimney per clemsonfor's suggestions. I get onto our roof by climbing through an attic window above the garage. Before I inspected the roof, I built a ladder under the window to make it easier to climb through the window.

The window was an afterthough; we had not originally intended to put a window there. We decided it might be nice to have a cross-breeze through the over the garage bonus room if we ever finished it so we added the window last minute. We never thought we would be using the window in order to climb onto the roof. If I had it to over again, I would make the window a little bigger. While my wife has no trouble climbing through that window, getting through it is very awkward for me. Adding the ladder below the window really helps but it is still uncomfortable to climb through it.

There are those times that a dump trailer sure would be nice. But they are heavy and expensive. I've never seen even a used one go for under $3k here, and that is very rare. $4-5k is a more common used price for smaller ones and $6-8k is not that uncommon. All used prices. It sure would be an all-purpose trailer to cover a lot of needs (if you got a longer one) but you would need to maintain a heavy truck to pull it. And then it would likely be too big to use around the land with your tractor.

No easy answers, are there?

That window would be pretty easy to replace with a bigger one if you really wanted to. Vinyl siding is very easy to rework (shouldn't need anything new - just re-use what is there) and the gable wall means it should not be load bearing. That's a 1-day project for someone experienced. Pull the vinyl, cut and reframe the wall, install new window and fit/re-install the vinyl. As long as the interior remains unfinished...

Just a thought, if you find it to be a big hassle down the road.
