Thanks for everyones advice who has "been there" I quit several years ago for a period of six months,no cheating,no smokes for six loooong months.Cold Turkey...

In that period I never lost the craving for a cig. I fought it every hour of every day...I finally weakened and bought a pack and it's been 30-40 cigs. a day ever since.

I'm trying to get the "mindset" to give it another go,but I am going to the Drugstore for some help...Thanks again...BTW,I have also been on the Adkins diet and does work /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

That makes a good story about the wealthy eating meat and having gout. I have had gout, got over it and eat much more meat than I use to, and don't have it. I grew up in the country and we ate mostly meat and most people there lived to be 90 some, and no one had gout, that I ever heard of in that country. There was 4 grown ups and me, and we went through 3 big hogs every year and sometimes 1/2 of a beef to. All the people around there did. Of course the Dr. told me that wealthy story to, but when I had it I had left the farm and wasn't eating that much meat, like I do now. Meat does not hurt you, and most people in the old days did have meat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I remember some studies on addiction in grad school. We gave rats their choice of heroin, nicotine, caffeine, THC, codeine and crack cocaine. I was amazed to learn the only substance more popular than nicotine was crack! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I've never tried any of those choices other than Nicotine,I can't imagine any other addiction being any worse /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Some can "kick it" with no problems,others have a tough time of it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Do you mean you have never drank coffee?? You said you hadn't tried any of those other choices. Atkins also says you shouldn't drink coffee with his diet. I was on it for a while, but still drank coffee, and it still worked. Maybe it works different with different people.
