I'm also considering a mower for my tractor. One complaint I have heard about rear mounted mowers is that the rear tires flatten the grass too much. As you mow, the grass does not return to full height, and you do not get a clean cut. Has anyone else heard this?

If travel in slower gear etc.. and the grass is dry you should have a problem, and try not to cut in the same way on your return cut.

I doubt that those little aerators at Home Depot will be off much use but on the softest of soils even with bricks piled on top. They are extremely light duty, I have seen the tines bend over on them and are in no way suitable, my opinion, for use with a compact tractor, kinda like underkill on the implement.
Yes, I found that working implements for compacts etc are pricey compared to the lawn and garden tractor stuff but why have a "real" tractor to tow toy implements.
Consider that a MMM costs 2,500 dollars or so--more than a complete GT from Home Depot---sticker shock /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif -- get used to it, unfortunately.
The thing that is attached to the tractor in the bottom pic is a tine harrow, I love that thing.

That's what we call a drag harrow.

for my needs i have and prefer the rear mount finish mower. do have to e alittle careful around the few trees , but for open areas it is great. depends on your needs.

I have heard them called a drag harrow, Furest, the company that markets mine calls them a flexible tine harrow --- see attachment.

But I want so much, yet I have so little to give...

That darn family of mine just want back off their demand to have food on the table and a roof over their heads EVERY day.
Too bad I can't find a job where you're paid to collect all sorts of tractors, tools and implements to test and post reviews - then keep the goods.
Wouldn't that be a dream job?

You might want to check this site for core aerators from Trac-Vac. I purchased Model 364 for approx $775.00 last year and I am very happy with unit especially since it has 96 spoons. I bought this model with 3 pt hitch which works great, just lift and back in any tight spots. Called Distributer and they gave me several dealers that could order unit. Actually local JD Dealer ordered unit for me and after they saw it they ordered a couple to keep in stock.. http://www.trac-vac.com......
