So... we're ready. This pic is in the transport position.. I have both the FEL and plow rig'd to the hydraulics. When I get it home, I will probably drop the FEL ...but I don't have to.

Hank made the frame so I can leave it on. I can also drop the FEL (not yet tested..) as usual because he re-made the bar that -I gather- the FEL rest upon when loose.

The frame stays in place and I can completely pull the plow cylinder and stow it where it stays clean when not needed.

The plow is manual, but do not see that as an issue unlike those of you living in Yellow Knife. I have seen many creative ways to mount them in the previous posts and in FARM Show magazine, but feel more comfortable that -perhaps- when I come upon an immovable object, I won't tear much up.

.... you know how people have 'label makers' ... I happen to have a sign cutter so I can get **** about information where it is handy.

Next project is an overhead lightbar with solar charger. ..and a video cam mount also. Thanks for all the encouragement and info.

Looks Great! Can you explain this in more detail please:
I have both the FEL and plow rig'd to the hydraulics.

Looks good. My preference would have been attached to the loader for high snow stacking ability. I plow with my Jeep but when the banks get too big I use my little tractor with a home made snowpusher attached to the bucket to push it back.

Kenny: The hydraulic split was luck: In this mode the Tilt (R/L stick movement) lifts the plow and the Lift - lifts the FEL. When I drop the FEL at home, I will use #3-4 outlets for proper Up/Dn.

K-NH .. but I was scared as **** of tearing up the loader. I looked at a number of used tractors in the last few months and a few lost their ability to set the bucket flat on the ground. ..one Kubota had the retaining collar busted/welded back at the base of the right arm.

...Again, 'appreciate all the other great ideas out there. You gotta love this internet!

I can understand your concern, makes me wonder what the people did to it to bend/break their loader. The way I see it, I can beat the crap out of my tractor with the bucket and it's never harmed anything, what affect can a correctly setup plow blade have? The other thing that helps is having a blade with a good trip mechanism like Fisher has. I've tripped it many times on my Jeep. Good luck with the plow, hopefully it does all you need it to. BTW, when angled you may find the front tends to slide and may need to add chains to the front tires. Have fun :)

I thought I would report back now that our Winter is history.

JD_snow.JPG

This rig worked great. The Meyers tilt hinges were frozen from sitting a lot of years but plenty of banging, PB Blaster and gentle nudges out on the road got it to work. I tried both straight and various blade angles. At speed I like it fully angled. I got very little side slip on the front wheel 'till I got down to ice coated tarmac. Most of my drive is stone so it seems to hold traction better. I plan on blasting and painting the plow and adding a rubber edge to replace the steel for next winter.

The pisser .. you guys in New England and the Midwest got all the snow! I had one good storm. I have left the frame on. It only effects ground clearance. Every time I look it at - I try to see what else I could put out front. I dearly love to put my finishing mower there but the complexity and cost to convert it to something that would work is too much. I appreciate all the good advice you folks have provided this past winter. Cheers.

I bought a set of mounts from a Western ( same size as Myers) and had them welded to a plate. I then bolted the plate in the bucket of the loader. I have a hook on the bucket for the chain. The snowplow mount stays in the bucket (but could be removed) and is quick on/off. (two pins and the chain) I used a manual angle so a third hydralic valve wasn't needed. You shoud have the plow frame as deep into the bucket as possible as there is less strain on the loader.

wetstuff, looks good. I have almost the exact same tractor setup without the loader. I could be wrong but yours looks to be 2 wheel drive? I have been wanting to do this for some time now but was concerned about traction with the 2 wheel drive and turf tires. It doesn't even look like you had chains on or rear ballast. This gives me a little more hope and maybe I will finally get to that project.
