I have a few of those collar style PTO couplings......and I hate them. I am going to try the "rope suspension" or bungee cord as suggested above next time I use 'em.
I think the collar style PTO coupler is the worst kind.....and the type you have to twist is especially hard to accomplish for us humans with only TWO hands! Supporting a shaft in an awkward position, while aligning a coupling and twisting a collar.....while pushing forward......arrrrrrrghhhhh.
You know, you could get one of these Pto Adapter 1-3/8 X6 Spline Male X 1-3/8X6 Spline Female Pto Adapter and swap it out between PTO drive shafts. That way, you'd have the push pin lock on all your PTO drive shafts.
Just make sure you can handle the extra 4" of overlap without bottoming out the drive shaft.
Foggy, I can't recall if you have a quick hitch or a Pat's Easy Change...but if you do, adding the adapter will just make up for the extra length of the PEC or QH.
