Automotive Generator Source?

Some older units like cub cadets had starter generators.

Ford had 12v gennies on it's tractors starting in 1958 with the diesel tractors..e tc. Probable search vw bugs for genni9es.. and valiants.. etc. falcons.. etc..

A used generator (or a new, for that matter), with just a little tinkering, can be converted to a cheap electric motor, and that's really what I'm needing them for. I don't believe that an alternator is suitable for such a conversion. Thanks.

Old, used gas-powered golf cars would be a good source for starter generators as they are already intended to act as motors too!
