Auto\'s

This may sound like a silly question, but i am interested to know what type of car the average American drives, are the majority locally made our imported and if imported were from?

Re: Auto\'s

Some of the people I know have a car. But most of them have a pickemup or a SUV. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My daughter drives an Infiniti pocket rocket. Son in law drives a one ton chevy dually, diesel 4X4. Other daughter drives a Camry. That son in law drives a Nissan Titan 4X4. Son drives a Mazda RX8 and other son drives a Honda Pilot. Son of a kind, he adopted us, has two Dodge one tons, one a 4X4. My wife drives a Bravada and I have a Texas sized pickemup, C5500.

Re: Auto\'s

Vin, there are so many different makes and models on our roads that I have no idea what the "average" would be, and of course some of the "American" brands may actually be built in Canada or Mexico, while some of the "Japanese" brands may be built in this country. And of course things change with the times. I've traded vehicles more frequently than a lot of people (and should not have), and of course I'm a little older than a lot of our forum members, so the best I can remember right now, I've owned one German, one British, and three Japanese made vehicles, and one Studebaker. I've also had 10 GM products, 9 Ford products, and 7 Chrysler products.

In 1966, I bought a new Ford sedan and got what I suspect was probably the worst lemon ever built by the Ford Motor Company. I kept it 2 years and 24k miles, much of that time in the shop at the dealer, and as a result, you could not have given me a Ford product for the next 25 years. However, for the past 14 years, I've owned nothing but Fords (currently a mini-van). Both my daughters drive Ford Taurus and my son-in-law drives a half ton Ford pickup.

Re: Auto\'s

that Studebaker would be worth something today... Did you have the golden Hawk or that cheap Avanti they use to make /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Auto\'s

No, Larry, couldn't afford the Golden Hawk that I would liked to have had; had to settle for for a year old '57 Silver Hawk.

Re: Auto\'s

We need some Holdens over here in the states.
Vince if I could afford it I would have you find me an older model Holden and ship it to the states, even if I could find one to restore.
