Well I've narrowed my buying decision down to these two Kubota tractors. I looked at all the major brands and have found that these fit the bill when equiped with a backhoe. The major reason comes down to value and resale value and I am amazed at the value Kubota offers. I have a question....the B2910 in a brochure says that this tractor has a double frame. Is this that much more rugged and is the price difference worth it over the B 7800 especially for backhoe work?

Thanks

Thanks

From what I understand the B2910 and B7800 are the same except for some refinements on the B2910.

I have a B2910 and that is the way I would probably go again [over the b7800] if the price difference was affordable as viewed from my pocketbook.

As far as durability, there is no practical difference from what I can see.

Either one will work as well as the other.

I do think the L3130 series has a better backhoe setup though...sort of wish I had one for the small [relative] price difference...

Welcome to TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don’t think someone buying used will be looking at the B2910 and B7800 except in price.

Kubota quality is still in both tractors.

There are some small differences in the B7800 and B2910.

The B2910 has the following features

Lever type cruise control feature,
Tilt and Telescopic steering wheel,
Soft grip steering wheel,
Adjustable seat suspension,
Deluxe seat with armrest.
Extendible lower links on the three point hitch.
Ratchet type right link adjusting on the three point hitch,
Mid PTO as standard equipment.
Full control of 3PH adjustments.
Easy adjustable lower 3PH arms. (Pins instead of chains and turnbuckle.)
A rear hydraulic output for adding hydraulic powered attachments.
There are also some cosmetic differences. That includes front lights, grille and rear sheet metal.

I had the same thoughts about these two tractors. and if my local dealer wouldn't have had the 2910 demo I probably would have went 7800. I now think that I would not have been as satisfied. The two things on the 2910 I use most is the cruise control when mowing and the adjustable links when backing up to hook up an implement. The frame isn't a big concern with a subframe mounted hoe. I have a Woods 7500 and a subframe is the only way I would go. The only thing I tell people is don't compare this hoe to an industrial hoe it doesn't have the same digging power. I guess my expectations were a little high although it has done everything I have asked from it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm not for sure, but I think the frame on both tractors is the same.

When I bought my 2910, the only other Kubota tractor to compare it to was the 2710, which has a couple of niceties the 7800 doesn't, but a slightly less powerful engine in the same frame size. I decided to pay the extra $900 to get the comfortable seat and extendable 3 pt links with ratchet adjustment. In retrospect, I think it was the right call.

It depends on how much more the 2910 is compared to the 7800 and whether you want to spend it. Both will be just as rugged as the other, I'm sure.

I, too, am about to take the plunge while winter prices are available, and decided the B7800 will be it unless there is a good reason to do otherwise.

One B2910 feature I have seen mentioned several places is cruise control. That might be a good reason to pick it. But, one of the workers in the back of the dealer I expect to use (maybe being a worker in the back entitles him to more credibility than a sales guy) says there is also a cruise control feature on the B7800. Perhaps not the same as on the B2910, but effective nevertheless. Possibly something new on the '04 model?

Can anyone comment on this?

And, like SoilTester, a backhoe is part of my essential package. The dealer says Bradco 3375. I expect to use a 12" bucket. Comments?

Thanks

My comment would be that the extendable lower links of the B2910 are worth a lot more to me than the cruise control...

...a lot more... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I priced them thinking I might like to try to adapt them to my BX2200 and was shocked at the cost for the pieces...don't remember how much...more than $300 for sure, just for the two lower arms...

More than a few times I've been very happy to have that adjustability built into the arms. Saves having to manhandle the implement... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When I bought my b2910 last march my dealer had 2 b2910 in stock and he said having the b7800 for 1500.00$ less made the b2910 hard to sell .He even seemed concerned that he wouldnt' be able to sell the b2910 having the b7800 to compare to.I offered 18000.00$ it had turf tires mmm 60" and fel I thought I got a great deal.
