B-2910 vs B2710

   / B-2910 vs B2710 #11
I attached a picture of the back of my 2910.The lift arm
on the right is pulled out. I don't know if the lower lift arms
will fit a 2710 or not. You may not can tell anything by the picture
and I have never seen a 2710, but I like the lower lift arm level
adjustment better than the telescoping lower links. The little arm
lifts up and the adjustment is a ratchet. Is it the same on a 2710?
Now that was a good idea, a lot better idea than the very large lever,
with the big orange ball that works the cruise control. It is in the way
all the time.

Gerald, good picture, and the level adjustment is a nice additional feature on the B2910. The B2710 is a screw type adjustment just like the top link, only smaller.

I just took delivery of a B29 - chose it over a B27 for a number of reasons. Cost difference was only $685 from Keys' Tractors in Penna. and I was advised that the extra 2HP WOULD make a big difference with the 72" belly mower and the 60" brush hog. So far I have no regrets about spending the extra money - if only my son would leave the tractor alone for a bit so that I could try it out for myself.

Excellent picture! I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fit on the 2710. I'm afraid to ask the price however!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Gerald,

Great picture! I was so shocked by how small your axle was that I had to run out and look at my New Holland TC18's axle! I would say that mine a lot heavier looking in the rear end for a smaller tractor. Is that your spinning axle that shows? Mine is inside a car-like rear end. Maybe that explains the higher 3 pt. lifting capacities on the New Holland tractors.

JimBinMI, you mean you haven't actually seen the size of your rear axle? Didn't you know they put it in that housing so you couldn't see how small it is?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Bird,

That housing is about 3-4 times larger than the B2910's axle in the picture! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

And remember, my little TC18 has a 3 pt. rating only 35 lbs. less than your big B2710...so there must be some extra strength in that housing! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif In all seriousness, the New Hollands are built stronger.

JimBinMI, have you ever seen the size of the axle in that big housing on your van or car? I'm guessing that you haven't. There's lots of variables involved, and I seriously doubt that New Holland is built any stronger (or for that matter, any weaker) than the Kubota. Just how much stock do you own in New Holland anyway? Must have your entire retirement nest egg in there./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I can't recall even meeting a high pressure car salesman who tries as hard to sell something as you do./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have not asked any dealers about the price of the B2910, since I have no intentions of trading, but I understood the price difference was upwards of $1,000. I said I wouldn't have paid much difference; however, considering the combination of features; 2hp, telescoping lower link, crank type level adjustment, tilt wheel, and hand lever to operate the hydro in addition to the pedal (that should solve a lot of folks complaints about not being able to use the brakes for turning), I probably would have given the $685 difference myself. I'd say you made a good decision, sourdough.
