Snow B-7800 & B-2910 snow blower

Hey I just checked the Munising webcam (that's Munising Bay out there and that's the city dock) and it happened to catch one of the citys pieces of snow removal equipment. I ASSUME that's a piece of city equipment. Maybe that's what the typical Munising homeowner uses to plow their driveway!

Cool pic Ray. Believe it or not, I recognize that spot. Been backpacking at Pictured Rocks several times including once in the winter. Is the Dogpatch restaraunt still there? Great food after several days on the trail /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just a reply on rear attachments. This is my problem, but I thought I would share it. I am 62 and have been on tractors for 30 years. I never had any luck with turning around and backing up with rear pto snow blowers or grading the roads. I have a back and neck problem and the last time I graded the road I lost a month due to a bruised disc. Oh to be 21 again. I know most tractors don't have mid pto's when they get up to the larger size, but with a mile round trip to plow the little b-2910 seems like heaven and I have mirrors to see who I hit. Good luck with the snow. Kenta

Yes the 5 ft. is a little overkill. Vermont can put down 8-20 feet of snow in one winter. 12 in. of wet snow and 20 inches of fluff are not the same, but the B-2910 has handled them all. I just go down to a lower gear and slow down. Keep the shut clear and don't sheer the bolt. I guess I learned that last winter. Kenta

One more thing that is critical. Get chains and get ice-picks or something with stubs. All the power in the world won't help you when you hit ice. They may be pricey, but you can't get the job done without chains if you have ice or hills. Kenta

Ray, sounds like the new Kubota B3030 cab tractor has your name all over it. Not too big, not too small, equipped with a front mounted snowblower, cd player, heated interior, cup holder for your coffee and you are ready to move some snow!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( More questions if you don't mind:

The JD 4310 is the green equivalent to a L3130 correct? What's the JD equivalent to a b2910/b7800?

How high can you have the blower raised while blowing?

How slow do you have to go while blowing (worst case)? Maybe it's too early in the season for you to answer that one since it sounds like this is your first season with this setup.
)</font>

Ray - Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, I think the JD 4310 and Kubota L3010 are pretty close. I don't know that there is a green equivalent to the 30 hp B2910/B7800.

With my front mounted blower I can raise it maybe a foot above the ground. I haven't measured it. A rear mounted blower could be raised higher, but I haven't been very successful in raising my old rear mount very high and then going through deep snow.

As for the slowest I would have to go, I'll just have to see after we get a bad storm with big drifts. I will be interested to find that out myself!

Thanks for the come back Kenta! Yup it's got to be mounted on the front for me too. I might be able to handle backing up for a few more years but my driveway will be too long and Munising gets too much snow to do it the rest of my days. It certainly sounds like your b2910 can handle the snow!
Thanks,
Ray
