I'm looking at buying a B2410 and had a question about rear blades. The Kubota brochure lists a 4' or 5' rear blade for the B2410, with the note "requires main frame kit". I had planned on buying a Woods or Monroe Tufline rear blade instead of Kubota, but the note has gotten me wondering what the deal is. Does this kit have some type of hardware that ties the blade to the tractor frame, and is this commonly required on most compact tractors?

Three point blades simply attach to the hitch, nothing more. For a 24 HP tractor, you should be able to handle either a 5 or 6 foot rear blade easily, and about a 5 foot boxblade. By your description, it sounds like they are referring to a front blade assembly. That type of setup would definately be limited to a 4 or 5 foot length and would require a subframe of some type.

jyoutz,

Thanks. That is the way I have understood rear blades to mount too - just to the 3-pt hitch. It may be a typo in the brochure, but it definitely refers to the rear blade requiring a frame kit. (They mention a 5' front blade in a separate area of the brochure, but nothing about a frame kit). Recommended box scraper width is 54".

I have a 5 foot Woods rear blade on my B1700, and for snow it could easily handle a 6 footer. Your 2410 should manage a 6 footer with ease.

I imagine that the brochure is misprinted. However, I'll note that sub-frame mounts do exist for backhoes. I haven't heard of one for a blade though.

The purpose of a sub-frame mount is to distribute forces more evenly across a tractor's frame and cases. I doubt it, but I suppose it's conceivable that a big heavy blade with some sort of down-pressure could create enough stresses on a 3ph to be of concern. I haven't heard of a rear blade with down pressure either but that doesn't stop me from thinking of the possibilities--might work like a poor man's mini-excavator.

I have a 2410 with loader and rear boxscraper (54" Gannon) and it simply attaches to the 3 point hitch. There is no extra reinforcement or frame in the back. I love this set up. The tractor handles the rearblade with ease in our soil (clay). I love the bi-speed turn option as I have lots of trees and clean out horse corrals so it helps with the manuvering.

My B7100 easily handles a 5' blade on the 3 point hitch. So your B2410 should handle it with ease. Something I learned while looking at new Kubotas a couple of years ago...the brochures aren't always 100% accurate. I don't know if it's true or not, but one dealer claimed the brochures and other materials were actually done in Japanese and then translated to English. Causes a bit of confusion at times.
