I have a new b 2630 with 58 hrs on it and I noticed the rear end getting
hot. Also the rear pto chatters pretty bad. You can't leave your hand on the rear end it gets so hot. I noticed this before and after the 50 hr service. I called the dealer and he said they had no service bullitens on it and had never had this problem before. Just to use it because it was under warranty. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if it was nothing to worry about. My old tractor does not do this but it's not a hydro. Thanks for any input

I don't know about the PTO "chatter"; in fact, I'm not sure just what you mean. However, as for the rear end getting hot, this topic has come up many times. It's "normal" for the hydraulic fluid to become as much as 100F degrees above the ambient temperature. So if your weather is 75-80 degrees, and the hydraulic fluid is 175-180, you are not going to keep your hand on the rear end very long.

In other words, it sounds to me as if every is normal as far as the temperature is concerned.

To add to what Bird said, HST's run hot, thats why they either have their own oil cooler or cooling fan. Your B2630 has an HST cooler which if I"m not mistaken is located in front of the radiator, you always want to keep them both clear and clean. Make sure theres no clippings or any other debris clogging up the fins.
PTO chatter?

Thanks, I guess I'm not use to high temp of the hydro. As for the radiator I always clean it. And for the chatter. My old tractor pto runs smooth no excessive noise. This one sounds as if the bearing is rattling or if you have slop in a chain drive clattering. It's hard to explain the sound, I guess I'll do as the dealer says and run it like it is.

Also where is a good place to buy a shop manual for the B2630( cheap I hope)

I didn't find a place to get the manuals cheap, so I bought mine from a dealer; total of close to $130 for both books in '99 for my B2710. There was both a Workshop Manual and an Illustrated Parts List. You really need both.

Sarti, I have the same ratteling noise on my 2630 PTO. It is on the rear and mid settings. I have not had time to get to my dealer to ask about it but if you find out anything please post your findings. I was also waiting for my dealer to get a 2630 or 3030 on his lot so I could listen to them to see if they made the same noise. My rattle was with no implements attached, just turned on the pto to check it out.

I don't know for the noise. About the oil getting hot it's totally normal. I remember my first year with a BX23, I've been quite impressed the first time I touched a cylinder after doing some work with the backhoe and loader. The oil gets very hot. Same thing with rear end. Wherever hydraulic fluid goes it comes hot. Believe me, don't try to remove your loader just after working with your loader. I've never experienced it and I don't want to try.

If you have some chatter coming from there I would let the dealer check it out. It should be smooth and quiet like mine. Also in the heat of summer the hydraulics will get hot to the touch. Even our 710G JD backhoe at work gets hot. Did some digging today and was glad to have that AC cab on ;) :)

Devildog have you tried yours with no attachments hooked to your pto. Mine rattles with nothing hooked to it. At this time I do not have any pto driven equipment so I don't know if it makes a rattleing noise with something attached or not.

Mine rattles more with out any attachments, But I can still hear it when I have my tiller on. Has anyone made any modificatons to ther seat?
The way they lean forward it feels like I'm sliding out of it. Just wondered if any ideas on fixing it..

I have tried to remove the backhoe on my BX23 after some heavy use and got some burned fingers for my effort. No blisters or anything but I had to wait for it to cool off or go get gloves. I opted for a lemonade break:)

Sarti,
I had a chance to unhook the mower pto shaft today. I didnt hear any type of chattering noise. But I didnt have the tractor hot when I did this either.
