Which bucket width (54" or 60") would be the better choice for the LA402 FEL on a B2910? The dealer seems to think that the 60" is a "bit much" for this tractor. He claims that 95% of the 27/2910's he sells with a FEL, the 54" bucket is installed, and the customers are very happy with them. Just thought I'd throw the question out to the experts on TBN. Thanks.

PowerMax,

I used the 54" on my 2710 for about 5 months until my 60" was delivered (with toothbar). I prefer the 60" because it's wide enough to cover my tracks and the total capacity is much larger. This should come in handy when moving snow this winter. I don't know what one would have to carry (wet sand, lead shot?) to exceed the capabilities of the LA 402 but I've never even come close!

Powermax,
I had a 52" on my B8200 and now have the 60" on my B2710. After having both I would only go with the 60". I think you would have to really abuse it to hurt it. Also its nice to have a bucket wider than the tractor.

I have a 54" and after moving snow with it last weekend,
wish I had gotten 60". I've moved lots of dirt and stone
dust with the loader this summer and never even came
close to straining the loader's 880 lb capacity with the
smaller bucket.

When back dragging..or even snow removeal having attachment little wider than your rear wheels does a better job..least I found out.

I have the 54" bucket and it's probably best for me; just barely as wide as the back tire tread (R1s), but I also wanted it because I frequently use it to load a Kawasaki Mule and its bed is barely over 4' wide./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Otherwise, I, too, would recommend the 60".

Hi,

When I had originally ordered my B2910 it was with the 54" bucket. When it was delivered and I was staring at it in my garage, I looked at the bucket and said to myself "Boy, I'm glad I got the 54" bucket 'cause the 60" would be too wide." Then, I took out the tape measure and discovered that the mechanic had made a mistake and put on the 60" bucket. After using it, I'm glad I do have the 60" bucket.

I was concerned about digging effort in my rock laden hard pan soil, but so far it hasn't been a problem at all. When it came time for snow removal and back-dragging it's been fantastic. And when I use my loader as a wheel barrow, the extra 6" of width makes it easier to stuff branches and things in the bucket.

I can't imagine a situation where the 54" bucket would be preferable, other than clearance problems when maneuvering through a fence or gate.

I'm glad I have the 60" and would recommend it to anyone else unless the above mentioned clearance issue was applicable.

Good Luck,

Rick

Powermax,

I have the 54" and have been happy with it until I read all of these posts praising the 60". Can't see where it would hurt you, and I have found myself wishing for more capacity. A mounded 60" bucket of dirt might require a bit more counterweight on the back.

I have a 60" bucket. I would not want a smaller one. With a Tooth Bar and a homemade Grapple I find that it's size may even be a little small when carrying loads of debris from yard. I have attached a picture of my bucket with Grapple attached. I have doubled size of loads of branches and leaves that I can carry. The Grapple keeps them from falling out. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
My dealer very seldom sells 54" buckets on 27-2910's. That may because he only orders 60" buckets. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Wow, this thread is real surprise to me. I never even knew that the 60" was available. I can see how it might be preferable for some jobs. Wonder how much more it weighs.
