Tractor
Kubota B2910HSD
Well, it finally arrived...B2910,60"mmm, box blade and FEL. Yay! I had an enjoyable experience this morning mowing the lawn (it was wet and the grass was really high). The 2910 did a fine job and was very easy to maneuver around objects without tearing up the turf. The ROPS got in the way of a few tree limbs, but since I can't shrink the tractor, I modified the yard trees to fit with a bow saw. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I did notice a few things that kinda bugged me that I thought I would discuss here. First, an most importantly, is there a shortage of grease or some import tariff for Kubota? I go to adjust my deck height and realize very quickly that there seems to be no grease on a lot of moving parts down there, specifically the wheels and the adjusting pins. After having to tap them with a small piece of wood to release them, they came out easily. A little grease and that fixed that problem. Also, for the 4 items you have to adjust down there for deck height (thanks for putting that info on the deck, very nice!), why make 3 of them easy (i.e. - no tools) and the last one make me go hunt for the 17mm wrench for the antiscalp wheel on the RH side. Well in any case, the MMM cuts so nice, I have no complaints about anything, just a few recommendations as discussed above.

Will try to get a picture here, but will have to put the FEL and Box Blade back on. She sure is nice and I would like to thank all the suggestions I had found on TBN that guided me to this tractor!

Regards,
Frank

Congrads on your new tool.... I have promised myself not to call it a toy anymore. It does so much...

As for your question, I wonder if that is not your dealers responsibility. I am assuming that the dealer assembled the unit. That should be then one of the things they should check before delivering it to you.

One thing is for sure, all of you out there getting these new tractors and finding small things wrong will help me go over the tractor much better than I would of with out reading all these postings!

Thanks and enjoy!

Congrat’s on the new tractor. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Your dealer should have greased all the zerks when he installed the mower on your tractor. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif You may want to make sure the mid PTO shaft U-joints have enough grease. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif
Did you get the folding ROPS?

Congrats on the new machine... I have a new 3010 and I love it...I like it more every time I use it. Moved a round hay bale last evening, my 17 yr old son moved the other 19...he's even offered to mow anytime I want him to, can you believe that...lol

Yep - if I had known that a tractor would motivate my 18 year old son to help me, I would have bought one years ago. I don't get a lot of seat time myself, but I sure get a lot more time with him - I think I'm getting the better end of the bargain.

Ron,
The dealer did indeed grease all the zerks on the machine. Hell there was grease everywhere around each zerk. I intend to get more grease today and continue to lube every moving part. Some of the moving parts down on the MMM deck do not have zerks, but you'd think that if there are 2 parts constantly rubbing together, grease should be applied. This probably isn't a service item, just something I did for peace of mind and easy adjustability in the future. I did not get the folding ROPS, as they are a lot higher than the fixed, besides I have a Teltrex canopy coming soon, so really need a fixed.
I did notice that when you have tractor vs. tree limb, the tractor usually wins...so ROPS is kind of a self pruning device (small branches mostly) /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I got over the linkage that is used to raise and lower mower not having lube points. My mid-80’s B7100HST had similar linkage to raise and lower mower. I never had a problem with it wearing out. It was still in good condition when I sold the tractor in 2000. I do put a shot of oil on each pin every couple of weeks. I don’t know whether this is good or not. A lot of dirt collects at these places.

I have the folding ROPS. When cutting my lawn I lower it. The uprights still do a good job of trimming the lower hanging tree limbs.
