I have a new b2920 only about six hours on it. I tend to keep it in medium range. Yesterday I went to go down the driveway for the first time and wow was it slow going up hills.

It seemed to be under a load. I pushed the rpm lever up to the orange mark on the gauge and that helped some at least it did not feel like it was. Otto g down.

Same type of noticeable slowdown in high gear going up inclines. I used to have a bx25 and noticed it had issues going up inclines. However the bx25 did not seem to have problems on the same route that the 2920 was on yesterday.

Seems kinda odd. It made rackety sounds like it was under a big load, I did have the backhoe on, maybe that extra weight gives it grief?

Dont take this the wrong way but I assume you check to see if the brake was on?

I have not had anything like you experianced other than with the brake on.

I am at ~180 hours I have had zero isses although she does make a odd rattling sound when under load (others on the form have also described the same thing).

Make sure the PTO, loader, and three-point levers are all accounted for.

Have the same tractor,,,sounds like the brake is on,,,,,check your Hydraulic fluid level,,almost 100 hrs,,,zero issues that I haven't caused

Fluids are full, brake is certainly off, and the levers seem ok. Maybe I just dont have the rpms high enough.

Take the hoe off, or run it in low range. The extra 1000 lbs is making a big difference.

What type of incline are we talking here?

I'm no expert, but I think it's normal. My B3030 is a dog in high range going up any type of big grade. High range, in my opinion, is made for level flat land when not carrying any kind of load.
Hoping for a little snow tonight, hence the pic.

Thanks all.

Ericher69, I am not sure how to really answer that. Meaning I do not know how to get a best guess. If I had to guess I would say like 20 degrees (or half of a 45).

If you where in Mid range then it should not slow down as you are saying.

I pull a 5ft back blade full of wet heavy snow and no problems

Where your RPM's dropping when you noticed the slowdown (like the engine was being worked)

I worked on the tractor some today, and went up the same incline. The RPMS did not drop. Maybe it is just me being used to "fast" on the BX versus "mid" on the B2920.

It did not seem as bad today, so maybe I am just getting used to it haha.

Also, I found the source of the "racket" when going up these hills. I was afraid it was from the engine, but it turns out to be the quick hitch pins on the FEL.

I had the unit stationary, and I heard the exact same sound while operating the backhoe today. So I was able to get off the unit and trace it down to the pin. If I put my hand on it the noise stopped :) I read on here someone wrapped theirs in duct tape and that eliminated the metal on metal chatter.

Which pin, and what was the noise like? I hear a little rattle/tink noise when driving on bumpy ground, or when the FEL shakes after dumping a load. It sound like someone gently shaking a few small nails in a metal coffee can. Very quiet, but enough to catch my attention. I haven't had time to trace it yet, but this could be the same noise.

Mine was more of "clanking". It was the large silver pins. Maybe lift the bucket off the ground, and rev up the rpms a little, or slow down a lot, something to make some vibrations. Then put your hands on the different parts to pinpoint it.

Also, I notices the metal hyrdo lines that cross horizontally (I think it is a group of four lines) across the bucket rattle a little. That may be what you are hearing. I was thinking of getting hose protectors to slip over those, but it is not high on my to do list.

Seems odd, i don't ever feel mine bog even with the bh on or pushing snow in mid range. Most of the time im at 2k or less rpm. It doesn't even bog in high range, the only difference is you hear the hst under load more. I would check your fluid levels. I've gone up some very steep hills with the bh and a full fel in mid range too.
