Last weekend the wife and I were using our ~6 month old B3200 cleaning up after clearing some trees on our property. We had a trailer load of limbs to haul away (burning restrictions were still in place) so we just shut the tractor down and left it "out back". Well to make the story short, the Kubota was left outside overnight (I know I should have tucked it in) and we had a bit of a wind storm come up. Nothing too violent but a top did break out of a tree (ponderosa pine) and came down. Yes, it hit the B3200! The damage wasn't too bad -- there is a dent in the top of the hood on the right hand side, just forward of the hinge and another dent in the cowling jsut behind the hood. We both felt bad (especially the wife as she had been running the tractor while I was loading the bucket and she had parked it). We figured we would just have a tractor with a couple of dents from that point on.

A couple of questions for you:

Has anybody changed sheet metal parts on recent model Kubotas? What sort of pricing did you run into?

Would this be covered under the Kubota Insurance? ( I got the insurance when I took advantage of the 0% financing) I will have to look at it to see what the deductible is, . . . Anybody made a claim like this?

Sorry about your B3200 being dented, but always, always put away after use. Sometimes even if you put them away things happen. A friend just last year purchased a new B2920 TLB and had it resting comfortably in is new enclosure. Did I mention that we had quite a few heavy snow fall in the Adirondacks this past spring?Well went he returned home from some errands his new enclosure collapsed with the weight of snow. His Kubota received some dents on hood and one larger one above dash. His home owners insurance covered the repair cost. But you have Kubota Insurance, I would start there first.Good luck to you.

I have heard good things about the Kubota insurance. My dealer told me a story of some guy who bought a BX and promptly ran a stick through the radiator, lost all fluid. He then proceeded to fry the engine. This was operator error, but his Kubota insurance covered it, including a new engine. If they covered that, they should cover your new hood and cowl as yours was truely an accident.

I've read the policy (at least on mine). The only two things that are excepted are normal wear and tear and abuse. The rest is covered. I believe it's $250 deductable.

My dealer told me of a guy with the Kubota insurance that was cutting down a large tree and trying to push it over with the bucket. The tree ended up falling on the tractor and actually causing serious damage to the engine. Kubota insurance covered the extensive repairs.

KTAC insurance is really easy to work with and you'll be glad that you got it (yes, it sounds like a lot to have that coverage, but one thing and it's pretty much paid for itself). I had my hydro fan covered...yes, I still had to pay the $250 deductible for a $7 fan, but it was better than spending a whole weekend to do it myself (not having proper tools) or paying the full $600 for the dealer to do it. Like I said, call them up, tell them your situation and the dealer that you would like to go through...and the best part, it doesn't even have to be a Kubota dealer, only a certified dealership that will warranty their repairs (just to save driving time). They won't pay for trailering the tractor their though :(..

Its a tractor. Use it like one. I expect used tractors to have dents. My Porsche lives in the garage and is babied. My truck and tractor are for work and have scratches to show what they have accomplished.

Call Kubota Insurance ! I had a very similar accident happen. They were very easy to talk with. $250 and about a week and 1/2 later I'm the proud owner of a brand new hood. I got to see the paper work on the repairs and my $250 was very reasonable compared to their 1100. I even got my dealer to give me back all of the old parts. Just never know when I may need some spare parts !!

Do you guys avoid hitting nails with your hammers or do you replace them after each use?

As a carpenter and former contractor, I used to make my living hitting nails, but I've never once dented a hammer doing so. I never paid $18,000 for one either...
