B3200

Well for sure there are 5 who love the HST. have you read through the hundreds of threads talking about all the issues around HST, starting with the rediculous cost of the 50 hour sevice, or the runaway tractors or the the neck jerking when you change directions, or the sticking pedals just to name but a few. Common people there are issues.

Let me take a second here:
50 hour service cost-- yep cost me $150 for the fluids and filters. Can someone post what the gear cost?
Runaway tractor-- If I knock a gear outa gear it might runaway too..
sticking pedals-- lube it up.

end result-
If ANYONE wanted to be a pessimist they could find problems with everything and anything..

NOTHING on this earth is perfect. EVERYTHING has problems. YES somethings have more problems than others, it all depends on your attitude, and perspective.

the things you brought up are not things I have experienced..

BUT let me say this: HST 50 hour maintenace- even at $400 is a deal to me..
If I can do in 2 hours with my HST what my neighbor on his Gear did in 3 hours.. that extra hour there and every other time savings will quickly be worth more than the cost of several hundred dollars. not sure about you but every hour I save on a project due to better/different equipment is an hour I can use for something else.. As a businessman time is money and as a parent time is worth more than money- I want that time...

anyway--- SOAP box yeilded.....

Thanks to Messicks-- I missed that reply before I posted..
$50 for a delta in the 50 hour maintenace.. wow-
---See the savings comment in my earlier post--
How much is an hour of your time worth?
multiple that times every time you use the loaded in tight places for 2 or 3 hour runs.. x 10 years...

neck jerk--
missed that too---
If I am going full out forward, and then slam the pedal on the rear
yep I might have that problem and an expensive bill at the dealer..
not sure how to figured that savings....

anyway--- I am with Messicks don't worry-- get the HST..

Good luck and remember pictures count!

Well gee, just forget I even asked, won't again that's for sure.

The problem is it's a HST and I'm not sold on that feature after hearing about all the problems with HST. What are you guys thoughts in the price and HST. The 3200 does not come with a gear shift and would have to go to the L.
You asked for opinions from members on this forum. We gave them to you based on our actual experience. Our experience disputes your "claims" of all the problems. We with HST's have not experienced all these problems and I've never seen many posts claiming all these problems with the HST that you don't want. If you just want agreement to an eronious idea then post that you want agreement and not actual information and experienced opinions. Then you won't get your feeling hurt again, maybe.:) No, you probably will.

I bought my B2320 HST last year and have been very happy with it.
This particular model does have the gear option. Like you I had questions regarding HST versus gear. Initially I planned to go with with the gear but after talking to an experienced tractor owner I went with the HST instead. He also advised me to buy the FEL and go with a rotary cutter instead of the MM. All three of his opinions have been dead on. My point is, you are doing the smart thing by asking questions. No matter what you decide you will end up making a more informed decision whatever it turns out to be.

All the best,

Dennis

The 50hr service is really a mute point on a decision like this. I did mine myself for under $100. 3 Fiters, gallon on Diesel engine oil and ~ a gallon of Super UDT to replace what I lost when I replaced the two filters on the hyro. You wouldnt buy a auto or manual trans in you car based on this would you?

Good luck in your search.

Well you asked what problems. Perhaps you all should read the thread below mine BX2200, talking about their HST problems, but then again I'm just looking for someone to agree with my concern I guess;)

Your right! I'm now seeing all of the problems you mention. You need to buy the geared tractor, I believe it will be the best one for you. The geared tractors never tear up and last forever. No one has ever had a problem with a geared tractor. That's the one to buy for happiness forever. GO GEARED!!!

I'll just say that I am not a fan of automatic transmissions. My trucks and my car are all stick shifted and I won't willingly buy a car with auto trans.

That said, I own a Kubota B7800 with HST and wouldn't have it any other way. The thing is tough and I've worked it in ways I probably shouldn't. It's never been a problem although it does have a way of lurching into full low range engagement that sometimes pisses me off a little. Still, I've really come to like the thing.

I also have a stickshift Jinma (couldn't pass the deal). With 13 forward speeds it's really quite a workhorse but simply having to shift makes every tractor movement more work for me and slower by far than if I do same work with the Kubota.

OK look I was looking for a cross section of opinions and only got pro HST You all know that there are problems with both. You would have to be in a state of denial if you think that HST have no or very few issues. For the most part I agree if you have a toy tractor HST is great, but for the the realy day in and day out ones I believe the gear is better. I'm not trying to sway anyone and I realy don't care what you own, if your happy with it great. Don't put me down for asking a question.:(
