Somebody told me spreading Vaseline petroleum jelly on the tires makes it a lot easier to clean up overspray, before you paint...

Yes this and many other things can work, I would now jack the wheels off the ground, get you a can of Black spray paint give the wheel a spin hold the spray at one location as close the the rim as possible and simply paint the tire back black, that is if it really matters to you:D same thing when painting the outer edge of the rim,;)
The older kubota's such as this one use to paint everything just One color ( kubota orange )though back when I restored mine I was wanting to make it look newer, I notice that the newer kubota's had white wheels, so I painted them white, and being Kubota orange paint was so expensive, while having the wheels painted white I could use the less expensive krylon spray paint for touching up the wheels,;)
