Here in Michigan we have been having nasty weather, so I decided to spring for a golf cart enclosure to keep the worst of the weather off me. I purchased this Classic Accessories Two Man golf cart cover off Amazon for $78. One trick to know is that Amazon often advertises a certain number of items as "used". If it is fulfilled by Amazon, they are actually new, but in scuffed boxes or sometimes out of a box all together. Mine was in a slightly scuffed box, but perfect and unopened. I was really impressed with the quality of this cover - nice material, clear plastic and nice zippers and attachment straps.

My canopy was about 8 inches shorter than the roof of the cover, so I built an extra frame to keep it from looking like a kid in his dad's suit. The frame is just 3/4" EMT conduit bent into a U shape and mounted forward of the canopy. On the bottom of the FEL frame, I bolted on a piece of angle iron with a rod sticking straight up to go into the EMT. In the middle, I attached a bracket to hold the fore / aft position of the frame. There is little force on it and it is plenty sturdy.

The only significant openings are in front, on either side of the engine. If it turns out to be a problem, I will make some inserts to block this area.

The photo taken out the window is a little deceiving - I think the plastic fooled the auto focus. It is actually much clearer that it appears. I may try a hair dryer to get out the wrinkles.

Innovative. Do it blow much in the wind?
Thanks. I just installed it, but I think it will be pretty stable. There is not much loose to flap around.

I got a chance to use this enclosure on a blustery cold day today and the difference in warmth is amazing. I was going to try to rig up some kind of a heater, but after using it, I found I was overdressed with a heavy hat and gloves. So, scratch the heater idea. :cheerful:

Good idea for inexpensive and temporary cab! How is the visibility out the front. One pic you posted looks like it is tough to see clearly.

As I mentioned in the original post:

It is totally adequate to see through, but on a warmer day I'll try heating it gently and pulling it tight.

That's a great idea! Never thought about a golf cart enclosure... I've been itching to get some sorta cab or heat houser for my New Holland 1620. I have a front mount snowblower and most times I end up looking like the pilsbury dough boy when I'm done. I stumbled on a large cab off of a Simplicity garden Tractor. Aside from being bright orange it couldn't have worked out much better. I thought it was going to be to small at first but it was almost like it was made to fit my tractor. Lol

Dang good idea for a temporary cab, no more than I would ever HAVE to use one that may just work great. Thanks for the idea.

Yea, same here - I couldn't justify paying a lot for a cab, but this winter is extra cold. I have all of $78 in this one, delivered to my door. Oh, yea plus $8 for the conduit.
